http://wearebrighton.com/ : View From The South Stand - Leeds United

Fair enough Brighton fans, it wasn't as identi-kit as I expected. Great little stadium that you are right to be proud of. The architect wasn't as lazy as the one that did others (Donny for example)

I've not been yet mate, I've only seen pictures and from those it looks like all the other modern stadiums around the country - bowls lacking any individuality. Got to be an improvement on the Withdean, that's for sure.

I know it was out of their control, I just think it's a shame how many of these old stadiums are being replaced by generic bowls.

You were the one that offered mate, I was trying to accommodate your desires. I'd heard Brighton was the gay capital of the UK, but didn't expect to be hit on before I'd even arrived there. I can understand the attraction though, us Leeds fans are devilishly good-looking.

I shall let you know Phil. Maybe the Amex does have some individual character the majority of these bowls lack, but I've always preferred the historic grounds - take Elland Road as an example, it's a mish-mashed stadium built throughout the decades that kind of charts our successes. The East Stand for example always reminds me of our title triumph in the nineties, it was built at a time when Leeds were on an up. Would you have not preferred to see Goldstone redeveloped?

Made a massive error there - Lee Bowyer didn't come through the ranks! He was bought as a teenager by Howard Wilkinson. What I was getting at is that most of the players bought by O'Leary were unnecessary, it was Wilkinson who created that team.

The Scratching Shed : Grayson Admits Whites Are Lacking In Numbers

In fairness, we got promoted with the best defence in the league. We've suffered from injuries since then at key times so it has been a bit of a bodge job. I think the new line-up is the answer though (don't quote me on that though lol)

It's a strange one that, isn't it? Almost like he's been listening to fans and decided to extend an olive branch. The whole tone of his interview is a lot less smug than I'm used to as well.

No he didn't. He was the only person who ever threatened liquidation, and the only reason we were in that position to start with is because he rigged the admin process and pissed HMRC off. They were understandably annoyed that his derisory offer was accepted over more substantial ones. This notion that the FL wanted us gone too is absolute BS as well. The FL created new rules to ensure Leeds United remained. We make them money, they're not going to end that.

Previous attempts didn't fall through because of lack of cash. They fell through because Bates rigged the admin process. He had a creditor in his pocket that would only sell to him. To answer the "Bates is Leeds United" part I ignored below. Yes, he is - but if the takeover was illegal, he shouldn't have been. You can't punish Leeds because the FL and administrators were screwed during an admin process.

Let's leave the "Bates is Leeds United" part and concentrate on your misguided belief we wouldn't exist without Bates. Please enlighten me as to what he saved us from? Genuinely curious about this one, no one has ever provided me with an answer. Takeover One: On the brink of administration, Bates comes in and puts us into administration. Takeover Two: Despite numerous bids, all offering more than Bates, he's got the creditors in his pocket so manages to take back over the club anyway leading to a lengthy legal battle with HMRC, a -15 deduction and we spent the next three years in League One. Seriously, what did he save us from?

The Scratching Shed : Hope Leaves Leeds United On Deadline Day

Bates won't sell any time soon, he has nothing better to do. But I assume his theory is based on the lack of spending - you don't invest money in something you're trying to offload. Would make sense, but then you don't strip the biggest assets of something you want to sell either.
