Not every traumatic incident creates PTSD. If that was the case 99% would be suffering from PTSD. As much as the mental health community would love to have everyone diagnosed with some sort of disorder, the fact is, most people work through life's ups and downs on their own or with little assistance. This young man may only need the reassurance of his family, friends and the authorities to conclude that what he did, though violent and messy, was a good thing and that he'll get through it.

Thanks WCA. If I lived near the coast I probably could, but alas I don't. I work full time, commute 2 hours and then have a farm to take care of in my "free" time. I will however pledge that when my family hits the beach this summer that we will bring garbage bags to fill and if need be, bring them home and pay for their removal. I will also donate funds to assist in the cleanup. We have so many options to handle this that it should be a relatively simple process. The main hurdle is getting people over the "It's the government's problem." attitude.

Come on folks, this is the perfect time for the people of this state to partner with the government (they are people too) and tackle this problem together. We don't need to bury our collective heads in the sand and cry for the government to take this on; we need to do it as a team. This isn't rocket science, it's debris removal. The state could strategically place large dumpsters in the areas where the debris is depositing. They could have bag dispensers located at the main trail head and request visitors to fill as many bags as they can with debris. This could be a fantastic opportunity to get kids involved in an effort that's important. We have so many groups that could adopt a beach- Boy Scouts, Elks, senior groups etc. Items with alien life can be reported to authorities so that it can be properly handled. There was a time when The People used to do these things without the governments help. We saw a problem and we addressed it. Come on, it's our flipping beach, it's our flipping state, let's take care of the problem!

Someone is going to make a profit off of energy. It will wither be the government or private enterprise or both. Price controls don't work and usually have negative consequences such as shortages. Letting the government take over our energy supply would be like handing the steering wheel of a speeding car over to a 3-year-old. The government ruins almost everything it tries to control.
