You know. . .my first reaction to this thread was to jump on the "let's get 'em" band wagon. I even posted in the thread with my own two cents on how we might go about it. Then it occurred to me. The Media is not the monolithic power we tend to give them credit for being. Then I thought, hey wait a minute, why should we give them ANY attention at all. We don't want to legitimize what is obviously a group of failing organizations that if left alone will eventually implode without any help at all from us. No. Anything we do against them will only strengthen them. We need to ignore them until they go away. And they will. What we need to do is continue to focus on saving our country through repairing our broken government. To do that, we continue to talk to THEM, because if we leave the government alone, it too will implode. Our only hope is to save this ailing government monolith from itself by forcing it to work for us again. Let the media work things out on their own. We can't afford not to focus on the government.

I think we should choose a single sponsor for the letter writing and phone calling and maybe even demonstrating campaign. We should make an example out of one so that the others will sit up and take notice. We are large enough now to be noticed. The only question is. . .. who'd the biggest mainstream media supporter we can tackle? We don't want to take on any battles we can't win at this early stage, so we might want to start a little smaller. . .. not sure how to proceed, but it sounds like a great direction to take.

In our area, we're having two tea parties. One is a apparently a sham put on by the Republican party including an actual congressman (a guy who we need to be shouting at) to be speaking. Fortunately, there is another that looks a little more like it is in the spirit of what these parties intend to be. I'll be at the latter. I couldn't agree more. We have to do all we can to NOT let them paint us as unruly kooks. They are darn sure going to try. Here in Pensacola, it's already rumored that our Tea Party may be hijacked by the conspiracy crowd. I pray we outnumber them with such great numbers that they can't get a word in edgewise.

In music, crescendo refers to a loud climax in a musical piece. It's the highpoint that usually occurs before the inevitable decrescendo or fading of the music. I meant crescendo. I fear we may be looking at a climactic event that will be followed by a fading of enthusiasm. I sure hope I'm wrong about that.

I have this nagging fear that the coming tea parties are going to be the crescendo of this movement rather than the beginning of something that really makes a difference. Is anyone else feeling this? What's the next step? I for one, am ready for the march on Washington. My wife and I have made a commitment that when the call comes, we will be there. We will give up vacation plans if we have to so that we can do this. We will lose valuable time at work if needed. We will sacrifice as necessary. It's that important. I hope others have the same perspective. It's going to have to be larger than the Tea Parties. They can't be allowed to be the grand finally that I fear they may be. So I ask again. .. what's next?

I wish the USA (ie. our government) was less concerned with getting along with other countries and more concerned about our own well being.

Is it just me, or do we hear the term "lockdown" a lot more than we used to? It wasn't so long ago that the term was reserved for prisons, mental hospitals and similar facilities. Now we apply it do schools regularly and even sometimes (as noted in the article) to whole cities. Here in Florida, they lockdown the beaches after a hurricane while the remaining weather continues to ruin people's property. The whole idea of lockdown implies that some controlling authority is telling a bunch of people that they must temporarily give up their rights. Usually it's "for your own safety". How 'bout this. .. .. tell me what the risks are, then I'll decide on my own if I'm willing to take those risks. The whole idea of a government instituting a lockdown of anything sounds way too much like martial law. It seems to me that this whole thing is just another tiny sliver taken away from our freedoms. Or then again, maybe I'm just paranoid. Yes, I know the article was about the UK, but still. . . we tend to follow whatever they do only a few years later.

I would vote against any incumbent on principle. It doesn't matter who they are or what they stand for, no one should have multiple terms in Washington. If I start making exceptions for the people I like, then I'm compromising my own core beliefs. It seems to me that his movement is very much about having core values and sticking with them.

Well said. I agree, with you sentiments concerning Impeachment. However, Let's not get distracted with an over-simplistic bumper sticker mentality. I've been seeing "impeach Bush" stickers for years. At best these kinds of stickers irritate the other side, but at worse they make the guy with the sticker look small and petty. This thing that's happening to our country is bigger than that. Right now, we need to continue to focus on gathering our forces. We don't need to be distracted by a million tiny campaigns. We need to slow down and think. . .gather strength, and then choose very carefully where we strike. And when we do strike, it mus be with overwhelming numbers that can't be ignored. I like a "march on Washington" approach, but it will have to be larger than anything that's ever been seen in order for it to have any effect. The issue --- at least for me -- is that our representatives don't don't give a flying you-know-what about the Constitution anymore. . We should demand Constitutional thinking from Washington, and insist that no one in Washington serve more than a single term in any national office. Let's get rid of the deal where representatives move "up" to the senate and then move "up" to President of Vice-President. One term (total) is enough time for anyone. Don't let them fool you. . .governing isn't rocket science. If a guy can't figure out how to get things done in one term, then he isn't smart enough to be there in the first place.
