Lutheranism 101 normally would sell for $24.99. Right now CPH is running a Web-only special of $14.99. You can order any quantity at this price. Go to cph.org to order.

Blog My Soul : Holy Cross Day

Yes, you are correct that there are some understandable variations in this practice among those who care about Ember Days. The days of the week for embertides don't change but the holy/saint days to which they are linked certainly do. Some will, for some consistency-sake, say, "always the week after." I side with those who don't delay and simply say the tide follows as closely as possible after the day. Thanks for reading. ScotK

Guardian angels are true and biblical. To turn a truth of God into a lie by adding such garbage as a St. Bethany is truly despicable and a false teaching of the worst sort.

Jim, You are exactly correct, and the posting of LSB collects does infringe on the rights of the copyright holder. I wasn't being very careful in picking up the planning sheets I've used in the past and posting them on the blog. Thanks for the reminder. I need to better watch what I am picking up from the past.

Thanks, Robert. Are you aware of the little offprint "Collects of the Day?" It is a slim booklet and slips nicely into the cover of my TDP, because, like you, I like to pray the collect from Sunday all week. You can order it from CPH (item #SO-5510) for about $4.00.

Sweetheart, I hardly can think of you older than 5, but then I shake my head and remember the fine young woman you have grown up to be. But you shall never hear me admit that you or the other women in my life are any older than 29. Life is easier that way. Thanks for you prayers!

Thanks, Rick for the link. I have run across the ustoo.org site but have so far been intimidated by the shear amount of info available to yet make my way through it. I will do some more digging there, especially the support chapters, and make more use of the site. I have also found the YANA site and they have some good information and forums there. Rick, may I ask what type of surgery did you have? And in your life, what lead you to the choice of that surgery over the other, and choosing surgery over radiation? If you would rather respond "off line" I would be happy for the contact at prkinnaman@scotkinnaman.com . Thanks for the dialogue!

I know "thank you"; replies are sometimes viewed with the same disdain as "Amen!"; posts, but I want to say thank you. Truly, your kind thoughts and prayers, especially the prayers, are appreciated by me and my family (they are reading along with you). So,

Will, thank you. I'm reading Starcks with a whole different set of spectacles.
