The issue we're discussing (and from which you are deflecting) is whether the fact he cut someone earlier gives reason for shooting him later. (Again, of course it doesn't.) At the time he was killed the "imminent threat" was naked and alone on a balcony with a hammer, but I give you credit for tossing in assumptions to make your leap seem plausible. Had you or I shot him, we'd have a court date. So much for a higher standard.

As a victim advocate for BPD for over 15 years, I've been on many a ride-along. It seems to me you've never been on one, having instead watched way too much TV yourself. In addition I find it appalling you feel not mentioning the victim of a non-life-threatening wound is relevant and somehow ameliorates this kid's subsequent death.

You'll note it was only one officer who fired his weapon, the others "waited." We have jury trials, not death squads so whether someone was cut earlier isn't relevant to his being killed later. Tell me if someone were standing on his balcony waving a hammer that, were you to kill him, you wouldn't expect to be charged and have your day in court.

Yes, and be sure to ask them to do it while standing alone on a balcony. That'd be some neat trick. Had the kid jumped off the balcony and not incapacitated himself or dropped the hammer in the process, then perhaps killing him would have been justifiable.

The mine was draining hundreds of gallons of toxins a minute into the watershed and why the EPA was there (Durango Herald 9/27/14). Watch his speech then argue why the "venue" would've been inappropriate. Loaded words like "coming out party" suggest you don't have a valid argument, as do the red herrings. (I simply questioned your logic and never so much as implied you were a bigot or a homophobe.) In simply declaring it inappropriate, seems to me the one being overly sensitive here is you. Try to make a case for why bringing up ones sexuality is "wrong" without the straw men, deflections, and circular reasoning.
