The truth of the matter is Indy drew huge crowds (I was there myself) and it wasn't a question of turning a profit. It was a question of how much of the money was going into greedy Ecclestone's pockets. There was a profit there, but the little gnome's greed got in the way. Most successful sport venues aren't dependent on some little geek's demands that the local governments prop them up. Looking at any #s you wish, you'd have a hard time proving F1 is "more popular than ever." And, there is nowhere you can conclude from my comments that I "hate modern F1. I watch every event I can.
