You can request this from the charity. Most say they will respect their donor's wishes.

MoneySense : Save for retirement in an RRSP or TFSA?

Hi there, It helps to remember that the money in your TFSA is in after-tax dollars, while your RRSP is in pre-tax dollars. It's great to save in your TFSA and your RRSP, but if you have $1,000 in your TFSA you have $1,000 towards your retirement (or another goal). If you have $1,000 in your RRSP, you will be taxed on it when you take it out, so you only have, say $700 saved for your retirement. Yours truly, Sarah Efron, MoneySense

Sinforest was included as it was one of the 200 biggest companies in Canada, but they received a poor score: D for value and C for growth. cheers, Sarah

Good question Sarah. I'm not sure how this plays out from province to province, but my understanding is that unfortunately many of the programs to help people set up businesses are only available if you're on Employment Insurance. I'd be interested in any more information on this subject. cheers, Sarah Efron

Hi Susan, The federal tax credit on pension income can only be applied to $2,000 of pension income, so that's the most you can do each year with this strategy. However you could repeat this strategy every year until age 71. It's better to transfer the amount each year, rather than as a lump sum, because if you do that you will be forced to withdraw it faster. cheers, Sarah
