While the GOP and Neo-Cons sabotaged Hillary's compaign, I was out there supporting her election every step of the way. Not ashamed that I put her before a "conservative" candidate. Is Hillary the "best" we can offer, no. But between Obamatic and McInsane, she was the most stable of the lot. I careless about party labels as much as transition of power to be as smooth as possible, and without the radicalness our Founders tried to avoid. I'm the "C" in conservative, to preserve our institutions, our heritage, our way of life. Stability, conservation, and just plain good traditionalism. Which reminds me, why the heck is Vidal's article here? Don't like the radical tone, nor his "edgy" character. He's also someone I won't hold up as a model to emulate, no matter how good his "letters" maybe. The character of the guy, is well, weird. Spewing off everyone does not make a "wise" man, but a man with private demons, and demons that should never get close to power.

Any talk of "secession" at this stage sets up the stage for mockery and calls for the sanity of the proclaimer. Ron Paul may have good ideas, but those ideas of radical change are in the "Twilight Zone". Our forefathers didn't bear arms against Great Britain over "pop" issues of the day, it was abuses of a crazy king over time, that was the final straw to otherwise loyal colonists to the Crown. The USA won't break apart over some trival "pop" issues. The only thing that would call for it is a truly crazy federal government, and one that the truly average American citizen has no representation (e.g., had no opportunity to elect an official of their chosing). "No taxation without representation" meant more of the latter, than the former (as people have been paying taxes since before Rome). King George III would not listen to the colonists, and the colonists got fed up and revolted. That is not what is happening now, we may not like what we're seeing, but Americans are being represented at home and in Washington.

This "issue" never ceases to amaze me. We have "super max" prisons just for the worst of the worst prisoners who do network to form homcidal gangs and who will kill law enforcement while in prison, repeatily. They are no different than some al-Qaeta agent -- and religious belief itself doesn't make an inmate anymore dangerous. If they're under lock down, and in solitary confinement, they would not be anymore dangerous than being in an fenced cell in Gitmo. All this is is the "Not-In-My-Backyard" politicking (much like opening a drug treatment center; or what to do with pedophiles who are released out of prison). If we got them, we have to keep them, and personally I'd rather they be on US soil where we can keep a better eye on them, not warehoused in another country that can be overthrown overnight. Most of them are low-level fighters who were cannon fodder and just as worthless to al-Qaeta as our tax dollars.

It's not the mercury in the medicine people fear, it's that these vaccines are rushed to people without thorough testing. It used to take a decade or more of animal and human testing before a drug is released to the public. This vaccine was rushed without that safeguard of peer review and long-term testing. It maybe necessary in a dire emergency (e.g., airborne Ebola were death can come in 10 days and that's everyone but that 5% with natural immunity), but more chances than not it can introduce something worse to our next generation that do survive (and this isn't sci-fi...like reducing our abilities to become naturally immuned to contagions). The cynical will claim this is so these very "Big Pharm" companies can market "treatments" (not cures because there's no money in cures, the money is in long-term treatments). Either side of the debate folks maybe on, no vaccine should enter the market without proper review and testing. The cold hard facts are, If that means 20,000 people die a year that has to be, to save 200,000,000 from future complications.
