HGTV Dream Home : All About the Artwork

You look darling standing in front of the closet! I heard a rumour today that the public tours will begin Thursday February 4th! But as I said it's just a rumour. Oh can you pass on all the art information so I can integrate it into the Tours :) Thanks!

HGTV Green Home : A Day in Plymouth

I like the Dream Home in NM and have enjoyed the work on and with the house, but the Green Home location is Home! I am going to enter everyday and pray to win, just like everyone else. The idea of going windsurfing all day, throw out my lobster traps, running on the beach, a fun dinner date in Boston or a train ride into NYC is my idea of heaven and the Green Home can make it happen! I have to find a way to get out there. When is this home supposed to be completed?

The floors are Brazilian brought to you by Lumber Liquidators who also sponsored the T&G for the ceilings. If they are not the largest sponsor they are the second largest and do provide the avenue for HGTV to have a Dream Home. In a perfect world....

I've heard many individuals say the same thing and it is true from a certain perspective. From the other perspective the Dream Home Design Team had to work within the framework of Sponsors who provide the funding for the show and if you watch the one hour special closely or even the videos on HGTVpro.com that we took throughout the building process you will see where the love for NM is inherent in the home. New Mexico decor is much more than fireplaces, logs and rugs and the house carries by it's very location shares New Mexico values such as conservation and love for the land. The home has native NM art and photos from ABQ, Madrid, Santa Fe and other quaint towns. I hope you have the opportunity to see it again as they did a wonderful job incorporating as much SW/NM decor as possible. Enjoy!

HGTV Dream Home : The Secret of the Shawl ...

After calling a CPA here in NM I stand corrected on the prize tax. The taxes for the home are based on income. The taxes for the winner will be based on their personal income, the home/furniture & car values. However, he did say the winner could claim the home in the name of a corporation and that would possibly reduce the tax liability. Interesting! Make sure if you win you call a professional financial advisor. Goodnight from New Mexico....

HGTV Dream Home : For the Newbies

hahahaha! Now that's funny! I'm sad that some bloggers have not taken the time to check out IRS regulations on winning. The formula works like this. House plus Car plus Furniture plus Cash equals 2 million. When someone wins a prize they pay a flat tax of 25%. Hence the reason for the 500K cash. I am interested in finding out more about what past winners have done. I should hate to believe the employees at Scripps or the Design Team.

You can't afford to win the Dream Home? That's funny! Of course you can afford to win the Dream Home. HGTV has gone through great lengths to make the Dream Home affordable. The property taxes here are negligible and the HOA fees are $200 per month. That $200 covers the 7 day a week concierge/security at the gatehouse, the community centre where the winner party in April will be held, the roads, the landscaping and the shared well system and all the deferred maintenance reserves. Plus you win the 500K cash to cover the taxes of winning a fully furnished home , new car etc. . If I could win I'll take it!

Hey Lynn! Yes read the rules of the sweepstakes. As far as I can tell the only winner who took the home was Tyler Texas the rest choose the cash option. What did most of the long time bloggers think happened last year?

One thing I miss about NY, it's the bluntness in which they make a point. 1. The Master Suite has doors. 2. The glass walls in the cassita are dramatic and they were done on purpose, the winner will be able to etch the glass. 3. But I hope you do not enter and if you do enter, I hope you do not win. I'd like someone to win who appreciates the beauty of the surroundings and would enjoy living in a world class home built with the best of experts from the Southwest. I loved living in NYC but it wasn't because of the concrete jungle, it was because of the people, job and central park.

The home looks beautiful this morning, even at 28 degrees! Of course most of the country is experiencing artic cold weather but with the sunshine here it doesn't feel like 28 maybe 29! Great information for first timers and I am thrilled with every post I read. As for the Tours, I am sure HGTV will update everyone as those dates become available.

Growing up in the Netherlands there were several things I had to get accustomed to by moving across the oceans and one of them is air conditioning. Here in Sandia Park your home will not require air conditioning and there is not a system installed in the home. There was discussion about it with Dan, who heads up Plumbing Express here in the East Mountains but it was ultimately decided that it was unnecessary. In the hottest of summer days, let's say 90 during the peak summer months, by evening it's down to the high 70's and a perfect opportunity for fresh air.
