Viewing, possessing, distributing, and/or creating child porn is a serious crime, and for good reason. The children in the photos are being sexually used and abused. This causes lifelong pain and suffering for those innocent children. Also, it is not uncommon for those who do possess child porn to sexually abuse children too.
Your silence only hurts, and by speaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting others.

It takes a lot of courage to come forward and take action about being sexually abused. This is not an easy thing to do, but it is extremely rare that a child predator has only one victim. Some have many. Child predators need to be kept far away from kids forever It is never too late to speak up about being sexually abused, so let's hope that anyone who may have knowledge or may have been harmed by Rabbi Barry Starr, will find the courage to come forward and contact law enforcement, no matter how long ago it happened.

Hopefully this child predator will be kept behind bars and away from children for a very long time.

This UN report gives hope to the thousands of still suffering clergy sex abuse victims throughout the world. This report says Catholic church officials are to....

---Immediately remove all known and suspected child sexual abusers from assignment and refer the matter to the relevant law enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution purposes;

---Ensure a transparent sharing of all archives which can be used to hold the abusers accountable as well as all those who concealed their crimes and knowingly placed offenders in contact with children

---Promote the reform of statute of limitations in countries where they impede victims of child sexual abuse from seeking justice and redress; (In reality, time and time again, Catholic officials have worked hard (even hiring lobby groups) to fight against this simple reform.)

Now it's up to secular officials (especially legislators and law enforcement) to follow the UN's lead and step in to safeguard innocent children, because Catholic officials are either incapable or unwilling to do so. According to this UN report, "the Vatican still places children in many countries at high risk of sexual abuse, as dozens of child sexual offenders are reported to still be in contact with children.

Silence is not an option anymore, only hurts, and by speaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting others.

The victims of these residential homes which were run by the Catholic Sisters of Nazareth are amazing and they are to commended for their courage and determination to get this ugly truth exposed about the horrendous abuse that they endured. Apologies just don't cut it, these nuns and those who ran these homes, need to be held responsible for their crimes and for treating innocent children worse than animals.

Hopefully this public inquiry into these children's homes will give these brave victims a bit of validation for the pain they have endured. Our hearts are with them.

Optimistic..? Sadly, None of the popes, including Francis. have taken any decisive action to hold bishops accountable for enabling and covering up sex crimes against kids.

Tragically the sex abuse and cover up within the church hierarchy throughout the world is still going on to this day. Cardinals and bishops are still not removing accused predator clergy, and they are still not reporting to law enforcement. Their so called “zero tolerance” policy is not being followed by the bishops who created it. They don’t have to, because there is no punishment to force the bishops/cardinals to change their ways of protecting their image and the institution rather than protecting innocent kids. The Chicago Archdiocese is not unique in how they handle child sex abuse. It is a systemic corrupt system within the entire church hierarchy.

And It is becoming more clear that Pope Francis can not be counted on to remove and fire corrupt church officials, and really work to protect kids today.
This past week during the UN interrogations in Geneva, the Vatican officials claimed they are powerless over child predator priests. So if they are so powerless, why on the very next day did they admit to defrocking 400 priests for child sex abuse in a two year period?
BTW.. Punishment for being defrocked is essentially "losing his job, no jail terms and nothing to prevent an offender from raping again". The Vatican is NOT powerless over the priests, bishops or cardinals. Pope Francis could take decisive actions immediately to protect children today.

--When is he going to fire bishops and cardinals who cover up sex crimes against kids?
--When is he going to order bishops to stop lobbying against removing the statute of limitations for child sex crimes, both civil and criminal?
--When is he going to defrock KC Bishop Finn, who is a convicted criminal still running that diocese?
--When is he going demand that every single diocese in the world turn over all of their secret archive documents to local law enforcement?

Until high ranking church officials are held accountable by outside law enforcement for their crimes against humanity, nothing will change and children are still not safe within this archaic secret institution.
Children are safest when child predators and those who enable and conceal their crimes are held responsible.

If you will check out this web site..you will notice there have been 120 credibly accused child predator priests in the Chicago Archdiocese.. and these are only the ones that have been made public. The 'healing' needs to happen to the thousands of victims who have been harmed.
