The speaker announced forgiveness. Islam teaches a direct relationship between God and men. There is no original sin. God forgives whomsoever he pleases.

Several chapters of the Quran are named for Christian figures. 23 of the OT prophets are mentioned in the Quran. Of course there are concepts familiar to Christians in Islam. Jewish and Christian speakers specifically mentioned that.

Murder is murder anywhere.

We are advised in the Quran to avoid power by the example of Solomon who held rule over all things, all men, all animals, and all genies. He grew old and died sitting upon his throne. But no one dared notice as they bowed their heads in obedience averting their gaze. The situation continued until alittle worm gnawed away one of the legs of the throne and it collapsed spilling Solomon onto the floor.

With all his wealth and power in the end the people worshiped only an empty throne and bowed down to only a simple dead man.

You know guys, I need to tell you that not everyone is all absorbed by geo political intrigue, religous strife, economic turmoil, wealth, possessions and power. To be a Muslim is to worship God and that may be accomplished in many environments.

One tends o get what one looks for in life like the seven blind men and the elephant. You want peace it is possible and God can lead you to it.

So go do as you wish. I have been a Muslim here for 35 years and only my own limits prevent me from being a better Muslim. For me violence is never required becasue no ne prevents my progress.

Jihad is the process of resolvimg one's own needs versus duties before God. Mulsims see Moses and Jesus and others as great jihadists. They worshipd God while under severe oppression.

But I could care less who places the stop signs, paves the roads, runs the banks. The trick is to live in worship of God within it all.

I have no global ambitions as God has not chosen me to be other than I am.

The same is true for the speaker and the others with him.

Islam allows many possible ways of organizing society or commerce. But the model must be fair.

Islam is most directed at family and spiritual issues while the west seems obssessed with government. So when Muslims and westerners talk, they talk past each other, both ignoring the focus fundamental to the other.

There is no formal reason the valuable goals of each cannot coexist in a single society. But this would of course assume the belief in God is supported by the administraton.

Only the "pen" is mentioned in the Quran. It was a quill or feather. The stick would have been a toothbrush.
