RoboAwesome : Metroid: Other M Story Trailer

If it's possible, you ought to check out Metroid Fusion, as well. It's a sequel to the Other M story, if you can believe it.

This one is a bit of a departure and at the same time, a return to the series' side-scrolling roots. This is being touted as Nintendo's first "cinematic quality" video game (in the same way that it can be said VII was Final Fantasy's first) as all of their major titles have little voice acting and cutscenes are typically limited in terms of scope and action. Here's hoping this becomes a trend!

Awesome article, Carl! A lot of this was very surprising! I was thinking of doing a Metroid chronology, but I think I'll wait a little closer to Other M's release.

Wow, seriously? A coach? How is that fun? "We won! Yes, I knew it! Okay, we'd like to thank our coach and, uh....each other.... I guess that's everyone, since we've spurned any kind of meaningful relationship to devote more time to being good at Halo... But, hey: That's not really something that's going to affect us until our mid-life crisis kicks-in, so yay, us!"

RoboAwesome : A n00b’s First Impressions of Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty

I could never quite get the hang of RTS games. I would always become absorbed in building an awesome base and as such, become blind to the marching waves of death that were on their way destroy in five minutes what I built in an hour. Theatrically, I imagine a sweeping and heart-wrenching orchestral piece playing as I drop to my knees while an empire of hopes and dreams burns down around me. Then I am sad and disillusioned for all of the wrong reasons.

Since Ocarina of Time, Zelda's been writing the book on dull combat. Feels like I've been playing the same game with different looks.... Not that I won't buy the new one on principle. Just my opinion.

RoboAwesome : A Letter to Nintendo Concerning Pokemon

Nice article! I have no idea why there isn't a Pokemon MMO yet and I can't for the life of me consider a single con. Though, it may have something to do with Nintendo's stance on online features. For a while, they said that they wanted to make sure it was a lucrative endeavor, so maybe they'll have a more robust online component on a future console. Ever heard of Spectrobes for the Wii, Jessie? It's essentially a Pokemon rip, but it's so unique that this fact won't bother you at all. It's an action RPG with monsters that are much more monster-like. Worth checking out. It's extremely polished and fun!

I'm so psyched about this! Okami has got to be one of the most underrated games of all time and I'm happy to see Capcom isn't letting the IP fade away. Even if Okamiden looks horrid.... Okami > Recent Legends of Zelda Also, Thor, I guess. Or whatever.

Good points, but it's nice to have a hero who isn't so self-conflicted, melodramatic, and emo all of the time (though he's not without exception, of course). A lot of comic series have degenerated into soap operas. That's why I can't get into X-Men: Everyone just has all of these problems.... Get over it! You have super powers!

RoboAwesome : Klonoa | Review (Wii)

Thanks for your comment! I definitely appreciate the feedback. The thing is, the game established that Hewpoe and Klonoa are friends, but it didn't go very far beyond that until just before the ending. Up to that point, Klonoa didn't speak very often and when he did, it was very brief. Hewpoe acted as more of a proxy for Klonoa's thoughts, delineating what the duo needed to do next. "Right, Klonoa?" "Right!" More often than not, that was the amount of interaction the two had. It just seemed to me as though the more adult themes were tacked-on to appeal to a broader demographic. As far as the game being fun, you'll get no argument from me. I enjoyed Klonoa! However, the fact that the game is a remake can only have an impact on the technical side of things because you can't factor nostalgia into a review. During it's time, Klonoa was a stand-out, critical success. But now it's been released two console generations later and can only be considered as such. I didn't review Klonoa based on its merits as a remake and a service to the game's cult followers. I reviewed it based on its merits as a game. There's no right or wrong here. I just wanted to help you understand the reasoning behind the scenes. Thanks, again!
