/Film : Universal's Bride of Frankenstein Remake May Actually Happen

I wouldn't be too concerned with any GdT project until the Hobbit stuff is done. And that's going to take a while.

/Film : What If Critics Weren't Allowed to See the End of a Film?

No, it really doesn't. If I sat through two hours I'm going to want to know how it ends, because I've invested two hours. That doesn't imply it's any good. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

/Film : Wanted 2 Moves Forward

I read some of the comic after seeing the film, and yeah, a bunch of those ideas were Millar's. But the movie version actively bugged me, while the comic version just seemed goofy and dismissable. Not saying it's a rational response, but the movie angered me in a way the comic has no power to.

/Film : LOL: Todd McFarlane Wants Leonardo DiCaprio To Topline New Spawn Film

Mike, no one wants to see anyone who makes a movie succeed at it more than I do. But McFarlane has had over twenty years to prove he's got the sensibility to tell a good, character-oriented story, and the closest he got was making Spider-Man double-jointed. As soon as you set the guy on something with a writer's pen or real creative control, things get ugly. I'll happily eat my words if this movie works, but I'm not going to put off any upcoming meals waiting for that feast to happen.

/Film : First Look: James Franco In Howl

I hate that you'd even think to ask that, but I guess it's a fair question. So: no, not at all. I make the comparison because they both had a certain image as pretty guys in big movies, but each proved (or, in Franco's case, is proving) more talent and ability than people would have afforded them early on.

/Film : Is Harvey Weinstein Asking Tarantino To Cut 40 Minutes From Inglourious Basterds?

I don't want the long cut, I want the RIGHT cut. That's wildly subjective, but I want a cut that works. I don't care if that is 100 minutes or 160. If the cut that works is shorter than the Cannes cut, fine. As long as the story is told in the best way possible with the footage QT has, that's what I want to see.

/Film : Quentin Tarantino And Brad Pitt To Adapt Swedish Book Trilogy?

QT + totally original? Um, no. Even discounting the degree to which he's copped directly from other films (which is his thing, fine, no big deal) there is Jackie Brown, which is an adaptation of Elmore Leonard's 'Rum Punch'. A LOOSE adaptation, sure, but still... Anne Thompson got the 'QT's work is all original thing' wrong, too.

From people I trust, I've heard few good things about it. Which is a drag. I'm still really curious to see the film, but you're right, it can't be helping this project at all.

I offered, actually! Mostly because I saw that it was available and I needed a break from packing for E3. Not really how I'd have chosen to begin, but whatever...(I also like promoting the 'Twilight actor as Varg Vikernes' thing, because I truly think it's funny.)

Thanks for the welcome, folks! Yeah, I'll be here full time; my tenure at Chud ends on Friday. Beginning next week it's all /Film. (Well, for daily movie coverage -- I'll still be doing games for the AV Club and Crispy, etc.) Looking forward to adding what I can to the already fantastic work done here by Peter and his crew.
