<description>Maybe it was just that I wasnt paying close enough attention, but did anyone notice on the NBC Nightly news when they did the rebroadcast of President Obama&amp;#039;s speech, that they were no booos on the tape, there was laughter at the one point in his speech, but no audible Booos when he spoke about not placing caps on the malpractice payouts.    </description>

As volcanos produce more CO2 than any otherthing on the planet when they are active. <description>Jacob, I agree that history can get ugly and very often has and does.  But it is that understanding of that history that allows us to overcome the mistakes made.  It all goes back to the &amp;quot;those that dont konw are doom to repeat them,&amp;quot; mantra.  Learning those mistakes made is the responibility of all us, so that we dont repeat them.  That is why when we learn of their mistakes, we also need to learn what were the conditions or the pressures placed on them that created those historical events.  Ganining the understanding of each historical figures allows us to walk a few steps in thier boots (as it is) and imagine the decsions that we would make if we were in their place.  For all of the flaws of our historical figures, they are part of the family that has made our country.  For good or bad. </description>

<description>Dont you believe that this is an example of appling modern day ethics, to a historical figure.  Blaming a historical figure for his actions with out understanding the social sets of the time.  I am not going defend his actions, but history is full of figures that have made poor decsions.  America is about overcomming those issues and creating a country that we can be proud of now.  When we degrade our history, we are degrading what we have accomplished and how far we have come as a society. </description>

<description>A new imposed tax against a certin class of Americans, which I thought was unconstitutional*. Once again, as seeking money from smokers is the same seeking the money from AIG officals. Congress once again is going after a certian group of Americans. Lets face it, Smokers are easy to attack. We whom smoke are the one of the last classes of people can be attacked with anyone standing up for us. It is just another example of, &amp;quot;...they came for others and I said nothing to protect them, when they came for me, there was noone left to say anything to protect me...&amp;quot;  *Amendment 9 - Construction of Constitution. Ratified 12/15/1791.  The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.  Bill of Attainder: Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution prohibits Congress from passing Bills of Attainder, laws that punish a single person or specific group of people without affording them a trial.   Kinda like raising the taxes on people who drank tea... . </description>

<description>Texan2,  In reguards to President Obama taking the Oath of office or not.   The members of Congress who did take thier Oaths are at fault here.  I am not looknig to assign blame to one party or the other.  Infact, both parties are to blame, not to mention the American people who got caught up in the populus wave of outrage.   Until our citizens decide that their elected leaders need to live up to their oaths, and act like mature leaders accepting respondiblity for all of their actions, the laws which they create, and enforcing the laws created; we will continue to be governed by the Government that we have and one that is hard to respect.    </description>

<description>I postulate that every member of Congress that passed this law, is knowingly violating the Constitution and is complete disgrace to the American People they represent. They show their outrage and using innaporpriate speech angainst the AIG officals.  Ineffect attempting to blackmailing the executives with threats of mob violence and institing that they doing the honorable thing.  When in fact they should take a collective look at themselves for allowing such an issue to arise in the first place.      It has become far to often over the last 15 years, that Congress conviently chooses to create laws to cover their collective backsides and that of their lobyists instead of admitting their mistakes (by repealing those flawed legislations) and then fixing the issues inaccordance with our pre established laws.  Leadership by defelction has become the norm in Washington, instead of Leadership by example.  </description>

In closing, the cavalier attitude in which Congress passes laws that they know are unconstitutional is not only a violation of their oath, but is an obvious flanking attack against the Constitution.  Lacking the strength of character to change the Constitution directly, Congress is attempting once again to use the courts of America to direct their flawed policy, and to repair their lack of foresight attempting to limit the long ranged ramifications of the Stimulus Bill which they passed and did not adquatly review.   </description>

<description>As stated in the oath for Congress:   &amp;quot;I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.   Do to congress&amp;#039; passing of the Stimulus Bill without adequit time to read the 9000 page bill throughly and debate it on the floor of Congress, now Congress is passing another Bill which is clear a violation of the Constitution to regain/reclaim the monies given to the excecutives to AIG in the form of bonus&amp;#039;.  Every member of Congress that voted for this clear violation of the Constitution, should be impeached, and sanctioned for this illeagal action.     </description>

<description>It is easy to defend those who are weak and have no real power.  It is easy to defend those who are blameless.  To defend those who have no voice in society.  There is a sense of noblity in doing so.   The tough thing to do is to defend the rights of those who have committed no crime, but may not be the paragons of ethical values.  However, America was founded on some basic principles...    The right to break private contracts by our Federal Government is at this very heart improper, and downright unlawful.  It creates a bumpy and uncertain road, for the longterm future of our society.  In a time where our country needs stability and a sense of normality.  Congress is playing a dangerous game with the future of all Contract Law.  In an era where giving ones word with a firm handshake, no longer has the sense of committment that it had in the past, attacking contracts now creates even more uncertiany in our country.  Not to mention enabling such actions now, will allow for more unconstitutional laws to be passed in the future.  I for one am not willing to sacrfice the future of our country for .09 of the bail out that AIG received.  </description>
