But it is that understanding of that history that allows us to overcome the mistakes made. It all goes back to the "those that dont konw are doom to repeat them," mantra. Learning those mistakes made is the responibility of all us, so that we dont repeat them. That is why when we learn of their mistakes, we also need to learn what were the conditions or the pressures placed on them that created those historical events. Ganining the understanding of each historical figures allows us to walk a few steps in thier boots (as it is) and imagine the decsions that we would make if we were in their place.
