How about we get the salaries of all NPR "executives" and compare those figures with the salary of the receptionist who answers the phone? Or the janitorial staff? If NPR thinks everyone should make the same amount, great. They can install that plan on their own turf. After then we'll see what kind of "talent" they attract. Thanks for the insights, Joel.

Ah, but you are asking to choose my children. I love them alll equally. But if you're a Palin fan, The Mountains Bow Down Is a great Alaska mystery (I grew up there). There's even a sly cameo by the governor....

You got it, Leslie. Because the Left controls the culture/media, they can put forth any old lie that just-believable-enough to convince people. I've had readers complain -- Sarah Palin is in the acknowledgments of my last book (The Mountains Bow Down) -- and one friend won't speak to me because I included the governor. But to me, that's just noise. As cultural warriors, our goal should be write-direct-produce what WE want to see, and just forget about what the Left says about it. Which is why I'm such a fan of these Big sites. God bless Andrew Breitbart and John Nolte.

Great post, much needed. And please believe me when I say: The following is not a shameless plug. It has a point. I write a popular award-winning mystery series. My protagonist Raleigh Harmon is a die-hard conservative Christian (and forensic geologist/FBI agent) who loves guns. Why did I start writing this series? Because I was sick of reading mysteries that insulted my intelligence, my beliefs, my God and my country. A successful Hollywood producer bought rights to the books. But after trying to sell a TV series he came back and said, "Everyone loves the character and the stories but the discussion stops cold when I say the C word." Naive me, I said, "Cancer?" "No," he said. "Christian." We can complain until the girls on The View waddle home (taking with them the Whoopi cushion). But complaining doesn't change the game. As conservatives, we've got to create worthy culture -- that stands on its own apart from any polemics and politics. It's that simple. And that difficult.....

Dear Peter, We're sorry you can't get a hot girlfriend. Actually, it has nothing to do with your looks. The simple fact is, Conservative babes are smart. Ergo, they like men with brains. And yours, um, Peter? It's a little soft. If you need a date, try trolling the OW encampments. Sincerely, A gal who's glad to be conservative

"Rockford Files" is my all-time favorite tv series. Nothing else comes close. But I agree there were a couple boring episodes. Interestingly, the most boring were written by none other than David Chase, who later scripted "Sopranos." In his "Rockford" scripts, the Italian bad guys are like cardboard cutouts rejected by Central Casting. And that's how writing goes: It's an apprenticeship. You learn by doing, and nobody bats .1000 (though Steven J Cannell came close). But "Rockford" is a timeless classic, and most of that comes down to Garner inhabiting that role like his own skin. Funny, poignant, pathetic, heroic. My question is, Given today's situations/examples (OW, etc), would Garner REALLY describe himself as a "die-hard" liberal? I have my doubts. He was probably more along the lines of Lieberman-liberal.
