BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Lowe Outduels Santana, Braves Win

I was so floored by Lowe last night. I couldn't have asked for more. He had the bat, he had the pitching, he was in the game. When we're on, we're on. That's good to see, and makes me really anxious to see if we keep it up.

That is so wonderful. I am cracking up at that. You're great. Sometimes pride really really gets in the way. It is sad to see.

I hope this doesn't get ugly. I am sad to see Jordan strike out again. And I wish we had our real lineup. This has a taste of last year that I really don't like one bit.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : The Issues From The Nats Series

I am hoping that Schafer can keep it up, especially as pitchers learn him. On Saturday he surprised me a few times, specifically in bottom of the 4th. He was at an 0-2 count, then waited out 3 balls, and then hit a double. Honestly I did not expect that kind of patience out of him at all, but it was GREAT to see. I'm just sick of doing reading and seeing people complaining that he's no Andruw Jones. But I'm pretty sure we had the opportunity to have Andruw back and decided to pass on that. Andruw was a strikeout king, and so is Francoeur. But considering he's less than a few weeks into his major league career, I think Schafer is doing better than "just fine." I just like to pick on McCann because you sport his tshirt - - the same reason you like to pick on Yunel. ;)

I am extremely pleased that we saw some action from a young bat. After all, that's what we've been counting on, isn't it? (Now if only that young bat would write the blog he promised me....)

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Francoeur Signs Contract

Francoeur evidently thinks much more highly of himself than i think of him. He is not worth that. We wouldn't pay John Smoltz that, why the hell would we do it for someone that had to take a bite of humble pie in Mississippi last season? I am happy that we are keeping him, don't get me wrong... but i think that he had bigger things to worry about than his salary. I am on a tirade today. I wish people would get their heads out of their asses.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Griffey Saga Coming To An End....In Seattle

I'm pretty disappointed, as I know everyone is. I know for a fact that some of our young prospects were really looking forward to the leadership and guidance that Griffey would have provided and I'm sure this is quite a disappointment to them as well. This turn of events, although seemingly sudden, is likely what is best for Griffey and his family. We do not know the whole story, nor should we speculate. I just hold him to a much higher standard than I do most other players, so I am doing my best to reserve judgment and respect his decision. I will admit to feeling very let down, though. However, if anyone blames Frank Wren, I'm challenging them to a cage match. :) I'm meaner than I look. Maybe.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Mailbag: 5th Starter?

one more thing to point out. Colin, do not EVER apologize for something you aren't sorry for. "Jo-Jo Reyes is not a good option. He’s just not. I’m sorry...." No, you aren't sorry, and you should not be sorry for your correct opinion. The only thing you should be sorry about is that we are actually legitimately considering him as a 5th starter. That is a sorry statement in itself.

I don't like the statistics on Escobar's place at batting second. I am a numbers girl, as you very well know, and I really don't think that there is a strong RELEVANT correlation between a downturn in performance based on placement. Statistically, yes, there is a correlation factor, but the fact of the matter is that his performance was consistent in one place, which does not account for alternative variables to make this "spot" a statistically "weaker" spot. What I'm ultimately saying is that baseball statisticians just throw out numbers, the true meaning of those numbers is not necessarily definitive. Therefore, my vote goes to the Anderson/Escobar/Johnson lineup, for as much as I love KJ....
