My 2nd point is actually a recommendation.
For those who believe you can't prove god doesn't exist should find and read the book....."Atheism, The Case Against God" by George H. Smith. Smith quite nicely shows why belief in god is irrational and logically & rationally proves god doesn't exist.
Prometheus Books......ISBN-13: 978-087975124-1 or ISBN-10: 087975124-X
He also shows why xtianity is irrational and based on false logic and lack of evidence. I've read numerous blog articles over the years, read some of Bart Ehrman's books and others dealing with xtianity and atheism but George H. Smith's book is the best I've read so far. Anyone who wants to slam dunk xtianity or belief in god in general into a black hole could do no better than read this book.
Saying that someone was raised as a xtian does not excuse that person from irrationallity in belief. As another commenter pointed out once the person reaches an age that they can use reason to examine the evidence and logic then their belief becomes irrational.

1st time poster here...excellent question VJack!
I am an atheist.
I have 2 points.........
1st point...........(2nd follows in a seperate post)
I worked with a young fellow from Cambodia for a couple of years. We hade never talked faith or religion but one day he came and asked me what this "going to church thing" was all about. He explained his parents were being encouraged to go with some good friends. To make the story short, I carefully explained xtianity to him and he had never heard of such "beliefs".....He didn't even know about the other religions of the world. This guy was a true/real atheist. He had no supernatural beliefs at all. He had never been "educated" in the ways of any religion or faith. As I explained what xtians believed the look on his face was priceless as his jaw just kept dropping lower and lower to the floor and his eyes bulged more & more. He just couldn't believe anyone could believe such things.
There is no way that anyone can start with nothing and reasonably or logically arrive at xtianity.
