Way to go, Mr. Garnett! Though I have been fairly happy with the job Colorado Attorney General John Suthers has done so far - especially the online pedophile laws, the consumer protection laws, and the collection of DNA from criminals laws - I'm very disappointed by his poor decision to try and block the federal health care legislation.

Once I read that just one bat can eat more than 1,000 mosquitoes in an hour, I became a fan of them. Definitely encourage them for natural pest control! Plus it's cool to watch them fly out into the sky at dusk :-)

I hope to soon read the details of the plea deal he received, in order to be reassured that he'll no longer be a threat to animals & people. (Some hope, eh? But you never know...) I also consider his sister, Marie Lockhart of Fruita, to be guilty & deserving of severe punishment, for stealing the two family pets and then giving Buddy to her brother to "get rid of". Keeping my fingers crossed that she'll be fully prosecuted.

Rocky Mountain Rescue Group is an amazing organization - it's a non-profit that trains their all-volunteer teams for these exciting rescues. Their website has an entire section about outdoor safety, for all ages: http://www.rockymountainrescue.org/index.php They will also come to schools & other groups to give a free presentation about outdoor safety. The young man whose brother was rescued should organize a presentation for his school - this is a teachable moment! I see that the boys were ticketed, but I hope they & anyone else who has been saved by Rocky Mountain Rescue will give them a donation. "The rescue required traversing the falls. Wow!

Card catalogs are the way of the past, according to Heath Urie, who needed a bridge to connect his opening paragraph to the body of the article ;-) I guess reporters think they can attribute made-up comments to their subject with no repercussions as long as they don't put the comments in quotes. When George W. Bush was president he did give several speeches aimed at schoolchildren - and very nice ones they were, too. (His sense of humor & kindness to children & animals were his best traits :-) One thing he suggests is that they turn off their TV sets & read instead. President Bush's remarks were broadcast live by the Cable News Network CNN, the Public Broadcasting System PBS, the Mutual Broadcasting System, and the NBC radio network.
