Mankanauts! Please support LaxMom. She gave me permission to post her fundraising link, which includes an update on her struggles to help TeenBoy, plus a note about TeenGirl.

Kitten is delighted that her humans got her a playmate! That lives in that one specific space. Mysterious, yes, but fun nonetheless. Kitten has the best humans.

Kitten was confused. She was so happy with the play structure her humans gave her for the holidays. She was steadily mastering additional ways to enjoy it. Her humans were so nice to provide for her athletic adventures. They even decorated it. Then her wonderful gymnastics tower disappeared! Why would her humans do that? She felt sad. For about 3 minutes. Look, a string!

Well if you *must* have a cold, then the tiniest one is the best choice. Sorry for the energy loss, but I applaud your paring down the plans.

I'm so glad doing something about the house feels good. That's the only time I can be successful with housework: when I think of it as a sure-fire way to feel good.

That's a relief: saving money, saving a vet visit, and, best of all, she's not bothered by it. Why do dogs leave all the worry to us?

I think your optimism is well founded. CuddleBoy recently had all the parasite tests after an alarmingly colorful package he dropped for me to pick up on our walk. All tests came back negative and he's happily oblivious.

Important discovery here for LittleGirlDog. Last month she started getting subcutaneous fluids twice a week. It's something lots of pet guardians learn to do themselves, but needles make me fall down and hit the floor with my face. So I hired a former vet tech to come to the house and do this for LittleGirlDog. Let's call her our Dog Whisperer, Whispy for short.

Whispy goes above and beyond for my dogs (walks CuddleBoy sometimes). For LittleGirlDog's fluids, Whispy sits on the floor with her back against a wall, knees up. She cradles my girl against her chest, with arms and contact with her thighs. She soothes or distracts as appropriate. Whispy has an instant connection with any dog, understands them, even my unusual little weirdos.

But last week LittleGirlDog reacted with extra discomfort during her fluid therapy. When Whispy turned her loose, LittleGirlDog was panicked, looking for me. She staggered on stiff limbs until I scooped her up. She trembled hard for a long while. Previous sessions had not gone this way.

Previous sessions had not been during cool weather. Houston had been at or above 75 degrees F previously. This day we had actual winter weather, or what passes for it here. My house was at my preferred 66 degrees. Also preferred by heavy-coated dogs.

Sub-cu fluids are supposed to be "room temperature". But my old girl is ancient and 66 is much cooler than most Texas rooms.

Now I put a heating pad on the fluid bag before Whispy arrives. Then I put the fluid bag under my shirt, against my skin, under my arm for 30 minutes to bring it up (or down) to my body temp. LittleGirlDog is much more comfortable during her therapy sessions now. And no more panic or trembling.

Hey pet guardians, did you know about this? I didn't and neither did my Texas vet.

BigDog seems ok other than the colorful packages? Any behavioral changes? Is she happy and comfortable?

Hooray for your team work with an enthusiastic young person. And for sciencing with the laser. May the freight train detour around or away from your house and may said house be just warm enough, not too warm.
