Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #209. Counting swears in movies.

Nudity and sex scenes are what bother me the most. Honestly, that's what I use to rate a movie. At least Hollywood can attempt to claim justification in some characters swearing (not that I agree with it by any means). But you can't really justify sex scenes and nudity. They just randomly throw it in all the time! Even if there is some point where it is vitally important to the plot for one character to sleep with another, they don't have to show it! Just do the classic make out scene then the next scene with them laying together in bed. Still not appropriate or appreciated but plenty to make your point!! Grrr.....Hollywood! Who needs em...?

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #191. Committees on Committees about Committees.

An excess of committees is dumb. But putting people with certain abilities into groups and assigning them to the tasks they are good at isn't such a bad idea. Churches just need discernment when it comes to positioning people. It doesn't work so well when you say, um assign the tone deaf guy the job of music leader. Lol :)
