pastapadre.com : Another Week With No Madden 10 Roster Update

It kind of is...when has franchise not had flaws? They fixed the freezing glitch and balanced out things so it's more like the PS2 days so in some ways it is "better than ever," but that's because it was never that great. We just noticed the flaws more and more as years went on. The AI still drafts poorly, the progression is preset to only favor certain players (it always has been we just know the potential now), and you can still exploit things easily and trade for things you shouldn't be able to or sign and cut guys in unrealistic fashion with no circumstances because morale has no effect...

No...Pasta's post predicted it would be around that time. Do the research yourself instead of saying I'm wrong. He did the same thing when he said it was submitted for certification at the start of November. It was merely an assumption that you guys took as fact. Correction: the EA moderator made the assumption, not Pasta. I apologize as I just looked into it and the original patch 2 post was copied from an EA Moderator's post.

I'm a sports fan, and an avid gamer, and while I do have "favorite games" Madden isn't one of them, and even my favorites don't get special treatment when I argue with other people.

I didn't realize it was possible to agree with someone's sarcastic trolling post. Some of you use the term "opinion" too loosely...your statement isn't a critique of anything, it's just a backhanded insult to other anonymous people.

This list is titled "more details" for a reason. No game publisher knows about when their patch is going to be officially released. They simply inform the community when it is sent to certification, a simple 5 minutes of research would show that.

Find me a quote that says it would be released in the first half of November, otherwise shut up. Pasta predicted it would be released in the first half of November, he's not EA. Way to go off about something you clearly misinterpreted. I said "don't buy the game" to the one guy because he said they shouldn't bother updating the game at all if they aren't going to follow through with their promises. The problem is, THEY DIDN'T PROMISE THE PATCH AT ANY SPECIFIC TIME. Pasta gave a prediction, and you idiots misinterpret the hell out of it and use his comments section to act like you have any clue what's going on or "what's right" with the way EA handles their free updates.

Eric Berry comes in lower because he is considered undersized. Simple remedy that makes him an automatic Top 5 pick involves making him an inch taller and more ideal size at 210. It's not so much a flaw within their logic as it is their system, because college players often gain more weight at certain positions in the transition to the NFL. QB's for example get up to around 220, which is actually the weight class that is considered "ideal" by the import draft logic as well. The problem with NCAA is that it doesn't simulate it well, even though it has in years past. Players would gain several pounds to aide them instead of them going 5 years (RS included) and only gaining 1 or 2 pounds like in NCAA 10.

So, you'd rather they do nothing instead of attempting to appease a bunch of whiny crybabies who obviously don't deserve any additions to the game? Just don't buy the game anymore, but these annoying tirades have ruined this blog for anyone that reads the comments. It's on a youtube level at this point. These blogs are always released just before the patch drops, so it's likely coming this week. It's not "hush hush" either, the certification process is entirely in the control of the console companies. They never promised a specific time window for the patch, they just promised a patch. I follow a lot of video games, and no community is as selfish and annoying as the Madden crowd...and that includes games that are much crappier than Madden.

It is suspicious that, although it was mentioned in the blog from before, the tackle glitch isn't specifically in this patch details post? One can only hope it's an oversight in whoever did the write-up, otherwise we have to assume Looman couldn't figure out how to fix it and simply made up for it by the draft history work-around in the "awards" section.

Those franchise fixes are pretty nice, covering almost all the issues people had with it this year other than the typical retarded AI decisions. For people that control every team such as myself, the stat fixes, injury tuning, inclusion of draft history, all that is the only thing that kept me from playing the game more. If the patch is another disappointment, then oh well, maybe I'll sell it and get $40 back like I did with NCAA just last week. Anyway, the gameplay is flawed but since the beginning I looked at things realistically and didn't expect every gameplay flaw to be magically fixed by a patch. I just cared more about franchise, and most of the problems appear to be fixed. I also cared about the replays, as I really only watch the longer replays anyway. They were broken, and now appear to be fixed. I'm supposed to be as upset as you because I don't care as much about the other flaws? I also love how everyone thinks they know how long it takes to code a game or fix bugs. Mercs 2 was delayed like 3 times, the last being 6 months just to fix bugs and the game still turned out buggy as hell.

pastapadre.com : Week 11 Ratings Change Suggestions

Revis "re-earned" his rating in just the first half today? Roy Williams had a TD the other day? Also, perhaps it would be more accurate to lower whoever was covering Wes Welker last week, since Randy Moss (although he had one TD) still didn't do much when Revis was on him last week. They even tried to get him a deep bomb at the end of the game in a typical Belichick move, but he didn't beat Darrelle.

pastapadre.com : Madden 10 Roster Update #9 Details

They spend 50 million+ for the license every year, and even analysts slam them for that because it makes the game tough to profit off of. That is why, despite sales rising 5%, the head of EA was not happy with Madden's sales this year. They supposedly spent more than ever on Madden development this year. They also market the hell out of the game, and that often costs more than the actual development, just like some movies. Sure they profit, but enough to do what exactly? We know they worked on a patch and submitted it a while back. Like I said, some companies don't tell you anything, large or small. Many of them also benefit from having much longer dev cycles. And just because it's the only option doesn't mean EA made the right choice in paying for exclusivity...yet, ironically enough, it's not like they have a choice, right? They are required by the deal to make a game every year. I never said anything about weekly roster updates by the way...they started with it and should have stuck with it.

You said "a standard in EVERY other sports game on the market," don't backpedal now. I can isolate a few games to make a point too, despite the fact there are a hundred released per genre every year. 3 games does not prove a point, no matter how much you try to yell it over an anonymous comment section on the internet. Not sure if you're even reading what you type considering you questioned my point of mentioning the license, which was obviously to point out how they don't make the money you mentioned through selling this game. About the in-game saves though, I am not saying it's unimportant, but I hate it when you guys say things that are obviously false just to prove what would be an otherwise valid point. It's childish and does nothing considering you're essentially using this as a venue to vent your frustration. EA isn't going to read it and make any changes, and besides a few people who can't think for themselves, you're not going to change their views of the game either.

They never release the notes until it's just about to be released, I don't agree with it, so now you're just putting words in my mouth. The certification process on the other hand is something that affects every game released on these two consoles now. Also, please refrain from making idiotic jokes just because you don't know how to back up your argument properly. MS and Sony do this with every game, and we were never given a concrete release date, so stop misconstruing things to make your pointless complaints more relevant. If you just want to talk about patch notes, then sure, we should have them by now. Other than that it's been in certification, whereas some developers don't even tell people a damn thing about anything. Or they never get updates. Either way this is at least something to look forward to.

pastapadre.com : Madden 10 Roster Update #9 Details

There are also moronic people that can't tell the Donny Moore post was a joke by one of the viewers of this site, but that's neither here nor there... I should rephrase what I said, as it was more a matter of assumptions that have little to no basis. Nothing wrong with sharing them anyway, but don't expect to not be criticized for ignorance. You kind of just proved you don't understand how game development works. The basketball games both admitted they had been working on the patches before the games were released, yet the updates came out weeks later. Seems about right in the typical time frame of title updates on 360. Madden 10, although flawed like any sports game, is not "broken" as the idiots on here say. It can be improved through a patch, which is why everyone (including yourself) is whining. You said it yourself that it's working, and my point about PC games was that those problems arise because they can't possibly test everything. There are limitless scenarios and different system specifications on the user end that can't be reproduced, which is why some glitches will ALWAYS remain in any game ever made. With consoles everyone is on the same hardware, but there are still a lot more open-ended possibilities in sports games than other things, like say a linear RPG. My point is, 110 nights seems like a long time to you, but in reality they had to spend time finalizing what was going to be in it, actually do the work on several facets of the game's coding (both regular gameplay and franchise by Josh Looman's crew), and then test it. After all that, it gets submitted to MS and Sony, and takes two more weeks. They have not been working on this patch since the game's release, so 110 nights is also an exaggeration. I honestly never said you couldn't make assumptions, but when your opinions are based on baseless facts or pointless statements like "I think that when i pay that $60"...sorry, but no. Buying the game doesn't mean you know what you're talking about, doing your research or having actual knowledge of the industry as a whole does. Of course I want this patch, but considering we were never given a concrete date to look forward to it I'm not as annoyed as other people. Sure I haven't touched Madden in weeks, but I've had plenty else to play and I've made the same decision with MMO's I've played in the past. If I know there's a new update coming, I just play other things and wait. They rarely give a specific date for those updates, yet, you actually have to pay for them with subscription fees. At least in Madden you bought the working game at $60, and many who did have either already moved on, never go online with their game, or don't even know what a patch is.

Think about how many people bought Madden, then think of how many actually use forums. It's probably less than 1% of the userbase. Also, nobody promised anything in regards to a patch release, at least not "1st week of November" like what you tried to use as an example. Stop using such terrible ad hominem arguments to take away the credibility of anyone that disagrees with you. It's like Mccarthyism around here... Yes, a lot of us that follow the "Madden news" are waiting for a patch, but in the meantime the game has already been forgotten by a lot of people, a significant portion never even go online or understand what a patch is (and I sometimes doubt certain people whining do either), and they told us when it was submitted a while ago. It's not in their control anymore. Whine about Sony and MS having such strict policies about these things. But you know why that is? So we don't end up waiting for the 4th or 5th patch by this time because the developer released the game in a truly broken state. Yes, there are always flaws in sports games upon release, which is why nearly all of them get updates in the months following their launch. However, it is nothing compared to some of the unplayable games on PC that require patches just to run on the average user's machine.
