A point I keep seeing brought up is that bronies shouldn't be so arrogant in presuming that they are the demographic that matters in this, but I have to ask, why is it a forgone conclusion that this is great for the target demographic? People say they like the show because it isn't girly, but that's not true, it's still very girly. It's just not STEREOTYPICALLY girly. It wasn't foisting the same condescending bullshit that's in most girls cartoons about them all wanting to be a princess/worried about boys/wanting to be prom queen or whatever.

You can be into fashion and a "girly girl" without being shallow or whimpy, or being compassionate and in tune with emotions doesn't mean being a slave to irrational emotion, I dunno, stuff like that.

That's not to say that this will necessarily be the "stereotypical girly cartoon" (though the trailer isn't doing it any favors), but I just think that dichotomy between brony and little girl is a false one. The argument is about quality.

Also, is that really what fans (bronies OR little girls) actually want from their fantasy stories? I mean, Lord of the Rings fans aren't like "aww man, it'd be so awesome if Frodo fell through a wormhole into the real world and had to get a job at Wal-mart where he would then have to face the dreaded tyranny of Mike, the bipolar assistant manager! Boy that'd be relatable!"
