If Portland wins one more game, then the Nuggets would have gotten a much tougher draw through the playoffs (Houston in round one, Lakers in round two) then the one they got (injury depleted Hornets in round one). The supposed awesome improvement wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Now he doesn't have that chance, and may have cost himself an NFL career and millions of dollars. Mel Kiper had him on the board at running back, but not at the top. Dude clearly needed to make some noise in order to move up the board and increase his chances of getting drafted. It is unfair that international players can still come over at 18, but at the same time a year playing in college is not a waste. Kevin Durant was helped by playing at UT, and Derrick Rose benefitted from his year at Memphis. It helps to get some time in as the lead dog in big games instead of going from high school to playing on a bad NBA team.
