''While some people stood in support of reaccreditation and some called for the correction of various ills within the department, no comments were offered up by Loveland officers themselves.'' The recent survey done which our local law enforcement officers answered showed low morale and major dissatisfaction with those in charge, surely they had lots to say! Did Chief Luke Hecker issue a 'gag order' on his own department?

Loveland Reporter-Herald : Loveland ban on solicitation removed - Loveland Reporter-Herald

We have 'No Trespassing' signs and 'No Soliciting' signs on our property, and even with the ordinance we get solicitors on a regular basis. This displeases me, as my husband is disabled and it is difficult to answer the door, and we also worry about our safety. We have put up with it, but if this ordinance is no longer there to protect us, being that we have these signs up can we get the names of the solicitors and press charges? The City might be concerned about law suits, we are concerned about our safety and quality of life.

Daily Camera.com: : Virtual meeting on recreational sport shooting set for Monday night - Boulder Daily Camera

Where in the 2nd amendment does it say that you have the right to have fun with guns or have the right to bear arms for recreation? Teaching responsibility and target practice are what gun clubs are for. Recreational outdoor shooting is too dangerous anymore, given the increased population. Safety issues, wildfires are started, the litter is shameful, and there is also the noise factor. I love to hike, and I hope that my right to my pursuit of happiness is not going to be taken away because of safety, noise, litter, and blight. I find it very sad that so much time and money are being spent on this, when there are so many other priorities and issues that need to be addressed.

Loveland Reporter-Herald : Loveland school board delays evaluation vote, keeps attorney - Loveland Reporter-Herald

so let me get this right. Bob Kerrigan, Carl Langner, Donna Rice and Bryce Carlson are all for paying more than $40,000 for an attorney solely for the board (of 4) when they could use the one ALREADY HIRED to handle the district's legal matters, taking away from the budget (students). and Kerrigan states---"I am happy with him and his work," said Kerrigan. "I really do appreciate all the work he is doing. I'm happy with the work he is doing." Montagu interjected, "Is the community happy with the work he is doing?" "I'm not asking (that)," Kerrigan responded. "I'm asking this board." YUP! 'this board' is the board of 4, who don't give a whatever about the students, or what the community/parents think, just their own agenda. HELLO!?

Loveland Reporter-Herald : Local coalition puts on one-month class for caregivers - Loveland Reporter-Herald

This is a wonderful opportunity for caregivers, TY! I am a CNA who has worked in skilled nursing and now do home health care, with 14 years of experience. I am also now the main caregiver of both my husband and my Dad. Living as a caregiver 24/7 as opposed to doing it as a career are two different stories, I am fortunate to have the training and skills I have to help cope, most do not. I do hope that there are resources available to facilitate- "The real focus of these classes is to help caregivers learn and recognize the importance of taking care of themselves first...". I know of none. Respite care is available for some, I believe, but in my situation I have no resources that I know of to even take 2 days/1 night off for myself, I'm grateful for a few hours! When you consider that 24/7 caregivers get no time to really take time for themselves, it's just not a reality. Our 'free' time is spent catching up on sleep, household chores that have been neglected, Dr. app't's that need to be made, schedules that have to be coordinated, the list goes on. We not only get no vacation, for years, we also do not get paid. No pay is okay with me, but I totally agree that we need time for US, not first, but we need it! Also, I hope that enough caregivers can find a caregiver so that they can attend these classes. This is a very deep and complex issue to address, and again, TY for the help you are offering!

Loveland Reporter-Herald : New oil exploration reaches to Loveland - Loveland Reporter-Herald

Remember when the fracking moratorium came to a vote here in Loveland, and how we were told that Anadarko was the only oil company that has expressed an interest in drilling in Loveland, and that all drilling would be done east of I-25? Well, they haven't filed for any permits yet, but Extraction Oil & Gas is going to be seismic exploration in SE Loveland, the boundary goes as far west as about South St. Louis Avenue and as far north as about Southeast Fourth Street. Congratulations, pro-frackers, here it comes. :(

This is just one piece of history that Jefferson County school board is proposing to take out of History books, They also want to erase the Civil War. We cannot allow school boards to white wash history! Our Thompson school board hired the same lawyer that JeffCo has and this is a major concern! If we are ashamed of some parts of our History, we need to TEACH what happened and LEARN from it!

This is great that our hospitals are as prepared as they possibly can be. My concern is that our protective gear that we use is not effective against Ebola. In Texas, the nurses did not breach protocol, CDC dropped the ball and did not provide the proper protective gear & training, and will not until there is an official diagnosis at a hospital, then they will come in. The damage will already have been done at that point.

Chip Seal Project On Trail Ridge Road To Begin On August 25 On Monday, August 25, weather permitting, a chip seal project will begin on Trail Ridge Road on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park from Rainbow Curve to Alpine Visitor Center, an approximate 11-mile section. During the chip seal project, traffic will be reduced to one lane, and 30 minute delays should be expected. The project will take place through Friday, August 29. Cyclists and motorcyclists should be prepared for rough road conditions. Fog sealing will take place after the chip seal has been completed and after the Labor Day weekend. This important project will seal the surface of this section and is critical for the long term protection of the road.
