Yep, three stripes is a good design--easy to draw, easy to sew one up if you're feeling patriotic. (It's the ones who pick the exact same colours and then kind of ... flip them around that confuse me.) Our flag, though, is all fiddly. :(

So many beautiful poems above, I feel my efforts are hardly needed, but I've been saving up inspiration from the last couple of pages of the prologue and just had to write something before the main story begins in all its splendour. So here's my gift for the poetry shrine :) “We must keep out the rash and keep our country safe,” they said, And I agreed and joined the guard, a monster soon to fight. News of boaters reached us; they the deadly plague would spread, So quickly sped we through the tranquil waters of the night. But I didn’t know the rash would have A name, a face, a voice: The blast that shattered wood and glass Would shatter someone’s dreams. And standing here, I start to think I made a dreadful choice; But over wind and wave and fire I cannot hear their screams. The days roll on, all seem the same, the ocean rimming ‘round; We search another boat on the horizon, cold and blue. The radar speaks, I give the word, our target has been found; And then the slow advance upon that small, infected crew. But I didn’t know they’d come to us In hopes that we would save, And now their waving hands are pulled down By the waving seas. And suddenly I know I can’t— I can’t—I can’t— . . . . . . I have to get away from all of this: I have to leave. The horror of this life corrodes the corners of my sleep, I'll surely fall apart if I remain a minute more. I’ll leave for land and raise a family, raise a flock of sheep— But I cannot tell my children of what lies beyond their shore. They’ll never know the world outside, The nightmare left behind. I have to keep them from this Soul-destroying pain. What I have seen, and what I’ve done They never need to find; Then maybe they’ll be safe until The world is right again.

If my theories are correct, the prologue characters are the parents of the main cast, so I say about 30 to 35 years, based on how old medic guy looks. ETA: In panel 2, Árni looks so much like Hannu did in his dying-in-the-snow panel!
