I highlighted the paragraph you quoted, because it resonated me of the type of thing I see with more educated British patriots.

I didn't work out you were gay straight away! I didn't even realise it was obvious, I was chatting to my partner about five years ago about a story you had told and started with "So Mark is gay, and - " and he went "NO, REALLY?" so apparently my gaydar is nonfunctional. Though I didn't realise I was bi until I was 31 either. I also thought you were white.

You should all live in fear of my observational skills.

After a few chapters where I've only been interested in Hoa because everything else felt too bleak to me, the book is beginning to real me back in :)

This chapter was so exciting! I loved the networking in particular. It was also uncomfortable because Jemisin.

I always felt that the hand breaking was a deliberate, extreme test of control rather than abuse for the sake of it or proving love weirdly.

I'd use the nopetopus gif but I have no idea how it would behave in a Season.

The line about Syenite's feral lover, I don't think that was anything to do with a bias against orogenes - in the previous book it was established that orogenes born "in the wild" as it were, not in the Fulcrum, are called ferals.

Not Gerald, which is what autocorrect made me put 😂

I always hate it when I go to ask a question and end up part of the government.

I read this chapter with my baby boy in my arms, and at the bit about Coru I cried so hard I woke him up. So very sad :(

Big dramatic chapter!
