KVAL - Eugene, OR : \'When a person goes back to prison it costs us all\' | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eug

"Medium to high risk offenders " is a Department of Corrections classification that is evaluated by a persons age, sex, and resource status dealing with ties to the community. It has very little to do with the nature of their charges. I struggled with addiction for fourteen years and found myself in some serious trouble with the law. I went to prison for drug related crimes. At the time I was unfit for society and prison was the only alternative. Upon my release I was totally without means. I didn't have anyone to offer any kind of support. I knew that I wanted something different. Sponsors was there for me and provided me a clean and sober living environment so that I could change my whole lifestyle. Sponsors was a major catalyst in my change process and today I am drug and alcohol free, pay my taxes, and if you passed me on the street you would not have any idea that I was ever in prison. What is a criminal suppose to do when they want to change? If there are no resources they will go back to the same old pattern, its what they know. If nothing changes nothing changes. Thank you Sponsors for the opportunity that you provide to the lucky few!
