President Eisenhower gave the country the interstate system after seeing Germany’s Autobahn. At the time it was the largest public works project ever. In the foreign affairs arena he was pretty much all talk and no-go. Eisenhower had a reputation of getting people to work well together, but he did little to thwart the communist threat.
