Is everything perfect - no but the continued haranguing of the State's Universities is overdone these days. State support for the Universities has dropped dramatically since 1981. Indeed over the last several months the programing and staff of University of Iowa have absorbed $65 million in cuts from the state. Real cuts are being made in programing and staff salaries. The University of Iowa has one of the lowest tuitions in the country. tuition would have to raise by over a thousand dollars to put it in the middle of the pact among public institutions in the Midwest. It is ranked as one of the nations 25 best buys among Universities.
