Oh, wow. I am at work (a place where I will certainly be more productive after July 1st) with actual tears in my eyes.

Thank you SO MUCH for creating this blissful grove on the interweb, and for several wonderful years of A+ quality content. I wish you all the best.

Hey! I completely forgot this thread and am so, so sorry. But I'd still love to meet Toasties! I'm there in a work capacity too, but maybe we could enjoy a nice afternoon beverage after fair closing time? I'm flying home Thursday, but Tuesday or Wednesday would be lovely. If you're still interested, you can drop me a line on paperbackwings@hotmail.com. If not, that is completely understandable, and I will just wish you a lovely book fair. :)

Your rings sound amazing, and I would love to see pictures. I've worn the same two rings every day for more than a decade; a thin silver knot ring my mom got for her 15th birthday and one with a tiny diamond that my aunt got me. My aunt died last year, and I exchanged the diamond ring for one with a green stone that I inherited from her. I've worn it for months now and still think it looks super odd on my hand.

Yay! My chance to ask whether any of you lovely toasties will perchance be attending the London Book Fair next month? I'm going all alone and would love to grab a tea or a beer with someone.

Also, I'll never get around to posting this in an open thread, so here's a pixelly picture of a triceratops mask I made for a costume party some time ago and was quite proud of. Perhaps it will render me more alluring as a tea partner?

A few days ago I lost a poem I've had memorized for many years, one of the good ones I always come back to. I hadn't thought about it for a long while, and then I tried, and it was gone. This morning it came dripping back, unbidden, on my bike ride to work. It was like welcoming an old friend.

Lovin' this comment thread and the cat chirp transcriptions. My cat also mainly communicates in chirps, varying between falling intonation (when she's surprised to be woken, when she lands after jumping down from something, when she settles into a new napping position) and rising intonation (when she wants me to throw a toy I'm holding, when she feels she's being unfairly ignored, when we've had eye contact for more than five seconds and I'm still failing to read her thoughts).

Someone ought to do phonetic transcriptions of various cat sounds. I'd take framed prints of those over pinspirational quotes every day.

For some reason I read 'chihuahua' as 'chinchilla' and only realized by the end of your comment that you were, in fact, talking about a dog. Up until then I'd been surprised that chinchillas were supposed to learn how to bark and thinking "Huh, I'd've thought chipmunk noises were pretty standard, guess I don't know much about chinchillas".
