Selmayr runs the EU. Any illusion of democracy in this country has gone. I think we should replace the form of address Mr/Mrs/Sir/Lord etc with Vassal.

Priti you are spot on. There is one flaw however and that is that Selmayr et al won’t let us leave - ever. The illusion of democracy has been removed and sadly there is nothing you or anyone in the UK can do about it. V frustrating.

There won't be any conservative councillors left after these elections if T May still PM.

If Theresa May is PM when people vote then I suspect that you will have less than 25 councillors after the election. Harsh on you - but she is the leader of the Conservative party and has done what she has done to the party and the country deliberately.

Very interesting indeed - does this leaves the following options/conclusions:

A. Revoke Article 50. An Act of Parliament is required by 29th March 2019.
B. Extend Article 50 (short or long extension) An Act of Parliament is required by 29th March 2019.
C. Mays Withdrawal Agreement. Needs a MV be taken - then an Act of Parliament to extend Article 50 to enable the time for the EU Withdrawal Agreement Act to then be enacted.
D. 'No deal' - if you can't get A-C done by 29th March 2019 then this is default.

what am I missing?

Presumably there cannot now be another vote of confidence in this session either?

I agree. I haven't yet resigned from the party - saving that for 29th March if/when Brexit is betrayed.

Great article. I too won’t be voting conservative in the local elections. First time in 32 years.

I saw Greg Clark’s interview on Peston. I thought I had entered a parallel universe. He and the others defying the whip and abstaining without resigning appear to have no integrity or honour.

There isn’t a deal on the table. The withdraw agreement is not a deal - it’s an exit agreement that binds our hands in the negotiations on a long term deal that are yet to come.

Far better to leave on 29th March without those negotiating restrictions - we will then negotiate a deal for the long term without the negotiating restrictions.

We need a new conservative leader - one that can lead not just manage badly. Who you ask? For me pick any of the Conservative MPs who have military experience (regular or reserve) - they understand the difference between leadership and management.

I hope that one day we look back at this as a political blip and not the month our democracy died - killed by the vanity of a few that lack both integrity and honour.
