We, myself included, joined the volunteer USAF to avoid the Army or Navy. Today the military is, and has been for decades, all volunteer. One could argue we could save lot's of money by drafting people into the military. But until we do that, comparing conscripts to volunteers is pointless, like comparing the wages of slaves to voluntary workers.
