Big Hollywood : Report: Obama's Waning Hollywood Influence Opens Door for GOP

Heat was absolutely fantastic with excellent performances all around, lovely cinematography, a beautiful and haunting score from Terje Rypdal, and featuring one of the fiercest shootouts this side of John Woo. That film was a modern classic in the truest sense, thus it came as no surprise to me that the Academy completely ignored it. How I yearn for the days when Michael Mann was out making awesome movies like this one and "Last of the Mohicans".

Big Hollywood : Steel Cage Match of the Week: Wrestler CM Punk vs. Disgraced Singer Chris Brown

I'm really digging this article, because I am a huge fan of Punk and I hold nothing but contempt for that "musician" Chris Brown. Speaking as a lifelong fan of pro-wrestling, I honestly consider Punk one of the very best of his generation of wrestlers. For all that he has accomplished in the ring, I hold a ton of respect for him. Brown on the other hand is a bane on the music industry along the lines of Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, and is more remembered for slapping around his then girlfriend Rihanna then for any of his records. To hear that Punk gave Chris a verbal smackdown of grandiose proportions of which there is no true comeback to (He IS a woman-beater) to me is pure gold.

Big Hollywood : Behind the Smears of HBO's 'Game Change'

I am a big fan of certain HBO programming (Sopranos, Rome, and Deadwood are quite sublime), but with garbage like Bill Maher, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the exquisite little inconvenience featured in this article, it makes it very difficult to stay that way. I'm better off skipping most of the programming all together, and just stick to catching the good stuff when it hits dvd.

Big Hollywood : 'The Iron Lady' Review: Slandering Lady Thatcher's Legacy as Only Hollywood Can

I find it rather disturbing that whenever a new conservative political figure shows up, it becomes something of a race between the media and Hollywood to rip them to shreds and bury them into the ground, so as not to pose any threat to the folks on their side. Reagan, Thatcher, Bush Sr., and W. Bush were considered such "threats", and in recent times so have Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Romney, and Gingrich. The reactionary bile towards anyone and anything that even remotely disagrees with them is fascistic to say the least. What startling times we live in.

Not a big fan of Stephen Soderbergh (His "Che" movies turned me off of most of his films), but being a massive fan of Gina Carano, as an athlete and a person (From her interviews she is surprisingly sweet and down to Earth for being a celeb) I'll be willing to support this film.

Big Hollywood : 'Warrior' Blu-ray Review: Intensely Moving, Beautifully Acted Sports Drama

As a fan of MMA since the tender age of 8, you do not know how thankful I am to finally see a movie that does the sport justice. Great performances (with the highlights being Hardy and Nolte), excellent martial arts sequences, and above all that, a genuinely heartfelt story that even at nearly 2 and a half hours, flies by with ease. Warrior is my pick for film of the year, hands down.

The film works as a shoot-em-up flick with whacked-out visuals and twisted humor (Just about everything with Rodney Dangerfield in it) but it falls apart whenever it tries to do anything remotely intelligent. Such as social commentary that never goes farther then tiresome cliches as *Paraphrasing* "None of this is our fault! We're only products of our environment!" and silliness in the form of slogans like "Too much Television" being displayed over the couple when they're visiting the Indian. That and a cast of extremely loathsome characters do not do the film any favors. I see what Stone was trying to say about societies obsession with violence and crash tv, hell I even enjoyed the parts that rip on all the idiots that glamorize folks like Charles Manson and O.J. Simpson. But for all intents and purposes, the film was a mess.
