GretaWire : I listened to the President speak as I drove to work..

So I am not the only one who talks (shouts sometimes) back at my radio or tv. When will I learn that it is a one way conversation, sadly just like the one way conversation coming from this new admin. Feel like I am just wasting my energy, no results but I still do it.

I bought nothing today..... and I am just NOT BUYING it....that government run health care can be healthy for America, NOT BUYING it... that the government can create sustainable jobs rather than that private sector , NOT BUYING it...that this stimulus plan is not an introductory socialist program, NOT BUYING it ...that there can be any energy policy that does not include more drilling, clean coal, and nuclear options, NOT BUYING it...that tax cheat Geithner has any plan at all to stop the banking mess, NOT BUYING it that increased taxes is not going to push us over the cliff into a depression, NOT BUYING it .... just not buying it.

Chik Fil A has a great handspun shake too - with whipped cream and a cherry! Their breakfast menu has gravy and biscuits - a foreign idea to me so I haven't tried that one... And oh the sweet tea and lemonade are good too

GretaWire : GretaWire blogger comment

Too late and a very expensive lesson for many now. In recent years developers have put up "mansions" going for a million or more in the areas around here and there seemed to be no shortage of people to buy them. I could not fathom who could afford them, and why anyone would want that big of a house....Now there are some being sold for a little more than half of what they were and yes they might even be affordable to a wider market now - but now no one wants to afford the taxes, the insurance and the utilities for those behemoths. Property taxes, another hot issue..don't get me started...how can anyone afford 500-1000 per month JUST for the taxes?!?!

Also a good point BUT consider that those in danger of foreclosure proabably are really renters anyway - and in that case there is no end to housing costs - rent is forever....at least while in the house with an extended term they can get the tax benefits of the mortgage interest and taxes paid- and we don't have to bail out that bad loan, people get to stay in the homes they are in, and the housing market stabilizes by the lessening of the inventory. Chances are people are not going to stay in their homes long enough for the most part to pay them off anyway - they will move first when their life circumstances change and then the loans can be paid off. A thought anyway.

Now you are talking. You are right. To stabilize the housing market and to help out those in need without costing stimulus money, the length of the term should be adjusted rather than the principal. Taking the interest out to 40 years makes the monthly affordable. Even an interest only payment for the next 3 years would allow things to stabilize and keep people in houses. Then there would be less toxic loans, less traumatization of foreclosures, less dropping of property values. Those facing foreclosure are facing having to pay some sort of housing cost (rent) somewhere anyway why not adjust their terms for the short haul to let them afford to stay put, and then sell it at some point.? Also how about the feds letting the banks readjust their accounting practices using market to market pricing for these mortgages as Newt Gingrich explained when the banks started toppling with these toxic loans? This would go a long way towards stabilizing the banks, can be done immediately and doesn't cost any stimulus money.

Yeah, good question. Investigators should look through any contributions or "donations" paid to Blago, his campaign account, his wife, etc. from the time Blago began talking to Burris about the senate seat and trace it back to see if it somehow came from Burris by way of the back channels. Probably thought of some "creative way" to get money to Blago.

Hurrah for Gregg...I guess in the end he really did want to be able to look at himself in the mirror and to sleep at night.... The right call. Maybe some of the other so called republicans can reach deep within themselves and find their principles, dust them off, and stand on them.
