Fact Check.
The President did NOT "suggest" injecting bleach.Trump merely asked some questions.
The "suggestion" was by a supposed "journalist".

Unsurprisingly Dettol had to put out a warning against the journalist's "suggestion".

He / She should be named and shamed - and possibly sued.

If the Govt decided to relieve banks of all risk - and guarantee 100% ....
....Then surely the Govt./ Taxpayer should take a stake in the Company - say 10%.

So whether it is Virgin that stages a miraculous recovery - or Rishi's Corner Shop - the taxpayer gets a bonus (or a chance of one).

Getting Dividends from companies - large or small - would go some way to countering those who think that Directors receiving Dividends instead of salary are reducing their tax bill.

The majority of people - not infected by the London, broadcasters' bubble - know the whole Trans thing to be nonsense from start to finish.

Sadly, most of us don't have the lexicon to rebuff the aggressive, trans-activist, accusing us of being "Trans-phobic".

But push back we must against "trans girls ... are girls" etc - with simple common sense and the knowledge that girls are girls and boys are boys.

One bizarre feature of Trans-activists ... that puts them at odds with their "non-conforming" LGB XYZ friends ... is their drive to conform to gender stereotypes.
i.e. A man pretending to be a woman doing everything to "be" like a woman.

Surely today, we have little problem with someone wearing non-conforming clothes or hairstyles ?

And no problem if a woman wants to work down the (man's) mine - or a man work as a midwife .....
(ooops, have I spotted an area of institutional sexism ....)

We don't pander to someone's delusion that they are Napoleon or Jean d'Arc.
With mental health no longer being a stigma .... we treat the deluded with sympathy,

We have names for such mental conditions .... and treatment does not involve surgery.

Surveys show, that most people believe that the taxpayer should not fund trans surgery.
Some think such surgeons shold be struck off !

Sutton,
Deliberately misreading McM's post as if it covered ALL of them makes you come aacross as an "identity" activist.

Having a pop at Stonewall is not the same as having a pop at the entire cohort.

"Fact & Context Check" ;-)

IIRC
Most London Councillors are in the range of £10k to £12k. (But see "Cabinet Cllrs" below)
For 5 years after the 2008 crash, some (many ?) had their pay frozen ( while staff got their 1%+ rises)

When "Allowances" (Salaries) were brought in, most in-Borough expenses (e.g. mileage, attendance) were scrapped.

At or before 2014, Councillors were removed from the Local Govt Pension Scheme - despite MPs staying in theirs.
Requests to convert to a Defined Contribution Scheme were rebuffed by Govt. - despite it setting an example to wean Council Staff off their "gold-plated" salary-related pensions.

Scrapping the "Cabinet" system (where Portfolio Holders get an extra £15k, £25k or more) could save each Council £ XXX,000s.....

And by reverting to the previous Committee system ....
...with decisions taken by the collective wisdom of Councillors from diverse backgrounds, and less influence by "Sir Humphrey" Officers.....
....local decision-making might actually improve.

The "liberals" have NOT won ......

But as long as people like Andrew Gimson let them get away with calling themselves "liberal", the rest of us have an uphill struggle.

Most self-styled "liberals" are anything but.
They seem to spend most of their time telling the rest of us what to think and how to behave - and worse, backed up by Big Brother-style laws
How is that "liberal" ??

There is so little push-back against socialist / collectivist re-definitions.

"Affordable" as a pre-fix really means "state subsidised" - whether housing or child-care.

"Poverty" is described relative to average earnings - so that "poverty" never goes away.

The so-called "Living Wage" includes meals out and excursions. When has this been questioned ?

"Far Right" is asserted but never defined and rarely supported with evidence..
A murderer is a murderer. How is a pre-fix helpful ?
Surely the intention is to tarnish any policy or view that commentators deem even slightly "right wing" ?

And stop "apologising" unecessarily !

But do Scots want REAL independence ?

If I was a Scot, I would lean towards Independence .....

... buf if the SNP continue with their illogical stance of immediately surrendering to the EU, I would have to vote for the UK ..... as the lesser of two "evils".

Victor,
The WA is not "Leaving" ... Remain pundits are now talking about a "cliff-edge" at 31st Dec. 2020 - becasue that is a potential exit date.......
Except that the WA contains a presumption that, if negotiations are ongoing, the WA would be extended, meaning;
- new EU laws apply
- the ECJ adjudicates for at least 3, 4 or 8 years (depending on which Article/Clause one reads)
- we pay £ billions

And in case of uncertainty over what phrases mean ....
(e.g. "best endeavours", "level-playing field", "not detrimental to the EU")
the ECJ interprets.

Which is why Boris needs BP MPs to counter-balance any remaining Remain MPs when he scraps the WA.

Another dodgy "fact" .....?

NATIONAL data may show majority BP coming form the Cons.
REGIONAL data shows that in the north, majority BP comes from Labour.

When combined with LEAVE data, the case for, in the north, the BP having more chance than the Cons is "overwhelming" !

What is your source for Farage "accepting Boris' deal in principal" ?

All that I have heard is Farage grasping at the straw that Boris is willing to Leave at end Dec 2020. i.e no extension to the W.A. - which he has to declare by 30th June at the latest.

(Which of course means that Boris now realises that signing the W.A. means NOT "Leaving" - whether on 31st Oct 2019, 31st Jan 2020.)
