Based on their criteria so far, the quality of their work and the ethics of it, the EQD pre readers have been doing a damned fine job. I'm not going to go so far as to say I've never had my problems with them, that would be a blatant lie. Still, I feel that they are more than allowed to judge what can and cannot get into this site based on more than just the "likability" of a story. If they want stories that are not only good, but well written, conforming to orthographical rules and polished enough that the random passerby would be impressed, then they need to be strict and non-tolerant of simple errors. If one pre reader overlooked a mistake but the second caught on, then all the better for you; you now have the opportunity to correct it. The real publishing world is far, far rougher than this, trust me. Something that might be taken de facto (Having control over the entire planets ecology gives you a tab boost in the 'rule over all' department. Not to mention the 'super' weapons Equestria (the county) has been show to posses). In my humble opinion, there's no issue in calling the planet after its most powerful occupying nation. Like A city within a state having the same name (The Quebec in Quebec idea comes to mind, or London, London). Even the Pony maps seem to support this, Equestria's the only Named nation. The other outlying areas are named after geographic features and the species found therein, but never giving a titular name. With enough practice you learn to place double-ententes here and there. It's mostly a matter of word-choice and forethought. As for keeping it serious, just avoid nonsense. Most go into the story with a serious mindset and think of it as silly once you've destroyed their grounding.
