It will not be released before November (when 4.2 hits), but no one knows how long it will take for it to be released after 4.2

Make sure you donwloaded the right firmware for yor iphone 3g, it should read something like "iphone_1,2..", if its 2,1 or 3,1 then you got the wrong one!

Hi all, hope anyone can help me. My father has an iPhone 4 JB&UL on 4.0.2, and it is overheating constantly and turning off, already happend twice today Now he doesn't do anything out of the ordinary, keeps it in normal temp and all. He uses a case that covers the back, so i dont know if this might be it, I already advised him to try it one day without it. Taking it back is out of the question (it was bought in another country), and I don't want to loose the unlock. Has anyone ever had is, do you have any suggestions, do you think that updating to 4.1 might fix this perhaps? Thanks a lot!

Quick question, does anyone knows a way to know if my iPhone is unlockes? Yes, I know that inserting a sim is the best way, but my sim is not a micro yet, and I'm not getting a micro or cutting mine until tomorrow (I'm going to a mini woodstock today here in brazil and I'm sure as hell not going to bring my iphone 4). Can anyone help me? Thanks

Looks like you are all set with saving and doing things, if you have your SHSH blobs saved for 4.0.2 and 4.1 that is great! While you can JB and UL now with limera1n, since you only need it for next moth I would strongly recommend you to wait until the Dev Team releases the Pwnage Tools wich will be more reliable and more stable than limera1n.

I did it as well and it looks like it works, although I really want to use pwnage tools or GP when they come out, since this one looks really rushed and I'm afraid bugs may appear. Caliphone, if you need unlock I would advise you to wait a few days, since the Dev Team will release a version of Pwnage tools using this exploit that will be safer for you to JB and Unlock.

Well, the answer to your question is no, buuut there are some android projects for the iphone, if you got a 2G or a 3G you can google them and I think you can install Android as a second OS. I tried it once on an old 2G I have, but it didn't work, so I can't say anything about the experience, but maybe someone here tried it succesfully and can tell you more about it.

Well, from what we have seen so far, the exploit that they are using in this JB is not patchable with new firmware, only new hardware, so even if they decide to change the hardware in order to prevent JB, it would take way more than one week.

The shattered ipod touch 4g video in this post is proof that they can Jailbreak, the hardware is pretty much the same as an iphone 4 (minus the phone part). While they are exited about the new apple tv and all it's possibilities, they haven't forgot about the Jailbreak, it will come out when it's done, trust them, they know what they are doing.

If you are new as you say you are, then I would advise you to hold on, don't try to update it keeping the Baseband If something goes wrong, you might end up having to update it to 4.1, wich has a baseband that can't be unlocked right now, and it might be months until a unlock comes up (if it does) Just keep your iphone safe, dont update it, and check this blog (if another blog says it's got a way to JB your phone, don't do it, it's a scam). When the right tools come up they will appear here! Hope I helped!

From what appears, the exploit that they found for the JB can only be fixed with new hardware, so it wouldn't make sense for them to wait until 4.2 is out since apple can't fix the exploit with it.

No, the Baseband cannot be downgraded, once you updated to 4.1, you can only downgrade your firmware (if you have the SHSH), but not your baseband.

Ok, I was just talking about this case because there really isn't a rule of thumb in these cases. But I couldn't give you an average, I haven't been paying much attention to previous unlocks since I had an iphone 2g up until now, and only updated it from time to time, when the unlock had been released for some time.. But now I'm on the same boat as a lot of people with a locked iphone 4, and I can't wait to use it instead of my old 2g!

There is not a precise timeframe, the team is probably focusing on a jailbreak right now, and then after that they may focus on unlocking this baseband, but nothing is confirmed, it could take weeks, months, never be unlocked, nothing is really certain and only them can say if or when this unlock will come.
