Those are great trades and profitable jobs, but why does the government need to give the loans? Why can't a private bank offer the student loans? Like they used to back in the 2000's

Bottom line is: The federal government should not be making student loans. Further, no one should be making or backing up student loans for Majors in: English, liberal Arts, Political Science, Art history, Theater, or Sociology. They are a waste of time and if you wish to pursue it you should do so on your own dime. Of course, I wouldn't make a law against it (not governments role either way).

Big Hollywood : While Creating Media Storm Around His Sex Crime, Roman Polanski Slams Media Storm Around His Sex Cri

"nothing would end the talk about this crime faster than if Polanski would turn himself in and pay his debt to society. Once he did so, once he was no longer a fugitive, we could all move on." Sorry Nolte, I am not that forgiving. Even if he served his time, I would still rank him with all the other pedophiles and rapists that no one in Hollywood should do business with. It amazes me that Hollywood can hold this guy, and Mike Tyson (both rapists) in such high regard. Other people Hollywood loves: Charlie Sheen, Andy Dick, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan. But to them the teaparty are the scumbags!!

Big Hollywood : EXCLUSIVE: Questions Arise Surrounding Michael Moore Attack Claims</sp

Wait, NOW Michael Moore thinks it is OK to defend yourself with force? Michael should have fired that Bobyguard for assualting the man after he had coffee thrown in this face. He should have instead asked the man kindly to disarm his remaining stockpiles of coffee grounds and creamers, then assumed he had and went on his way. Retailiating with force after the man was no longer a threat seems a bit ....cowboyish.

Big Government : Connecticut Governor: Now That We've Changed the Rules, We're the Example for 'Respectful' Relations

As a Connecticut resident I can tell you that the general feeling here is that there is NO WAY this deal saves 1.6B. Malloy is trying to say that a two year wage freeze (which isn't really a wage freeze since they ended the furlough from last year), attrition, other "cost saving measures" and "a suggestion box" on ways union workers can suggest for the state to save money will save us 800M per year for 2 years. I hate this state.....so very loney......

GM tries to mitigate the battery issue by never letting it discharge more than 50%. ...which seems like an awful waste of potential energy. If you are going to go the diesel locomotive route, GM should resurrect the old turbines they experimented on in the 60's. If memory serves me correctly, they were very efficient at constant high RPMs.

Just to clarify, I do not support the Government paying people to buy the Volt. I just think it is a cool Idea to save on Gas for commuters. As I pointed out in my initial post It needs to be cheaper, so let the Hollywood types with something to prove be the early adopters, maybe I'll get one 5 years down the road.

OK, I am going to be a bit of a contrarian here. I like the Chevy Volt. There I said it! The Nissan Leaf is useless, but the volt makes a lot of sense (if it was cheaper), the range is unlimited with Gas, and 40 miles on electricity is a cheap way to commute. GM started the Volt before the Government took them over, in fact the Obama administration wanted to kill it.

Big Hollywood : What Constitutes a Conservative Film?

I know George Never intended it, But Star Wars (1977) was a very conservitive film. The Idea of Rebels fighting an oppressive government which rules by force and grew from a Democracy (the senate was disbanded in the beginning of the movie). The presence of a rugged indiviuals who fight for freedom. Even Religon is presented positively. GL was trying to Tie the Idea of this tyrannical govenment to Nixon and Vietnam (Especially in Return of the Jedi). But, Like the Prequels he failed, and unlike the prequels the movie turned out awesome.
