I work in the electric motor industry, we have plants in China so I have first hand experience with their engineering and manufacturing capabilities. They are copiers, not innovators and they are not very good at even copying. Stated simply, they build junk from junk materials. Low quality materials, non-existent quality controls and zero pride in their work. They do the absolute bare minimum to get a product to market and they don't care if it works the day after it is sold. I am not saying they are not a threat but right now, if we had to fight a war with them, they are toast in a very short period of time. In a decade that might not be true but fortunately, their era of being manufacturing king of the hill is over. For various reasons, they are on the down slope from their peak and if we get on the ball and continue to upgrade our technology, they can not catch up.
