Big Government : Keith Olbermann, a Memorial Tribute

Yes, but that doesn't follow the narrative. Stop making sense! Seriously though, I can't help but think that there is a much larger plan in motion. Not sure what it is, but watch the other hand.

Big Government : Small Business Bill Passes; Business Owners Groan

Well stated. I am considering closing my business for the very reason you mentioned and the potential tax increase coming my way. I do find it interesting that there is so much mis-information in the press. For example everyone making over $250K being considered rich. They do not seem to understand the tax implications for those of us that own an S-Corporation. I am incentivized (paying a lower tax rate) to NOT expand my business, hence NOT hire new employees that would be required to perform work associated with an expanded work load. In other words, if I keep my net at $249,999.99 or below, I will avoid a tax increase. Go figure.

Big Government : Obama: Let's Cut Carbon (And Jobs)

Someone please tell me that my friends here on the BG site understand how "companies/corporations" work. The fact is that I own an S-Corporation and WILL NOT hire anyone until I understand the implications that are a result of this administration. With an S-Corporation all revenue minus deductions (Balance of dollars left in the company banking account) is distributed on the shareholders and is included on their personal income tax return --- so I am considered rich (over $250K) even though I intended to use the money to hire another employee to increase future revenue. In 2011 it is not gonna happen. I will not help with stimulating the economy AND will reduce my revenue in 2011 if my incentive is to just pay higher taxes. Sorry.

Breitbart.com : GOP candidate in Conn. hammers Democrat on honesty

Here let me fix this for Dick. "I am furious that my opponent has misinterpreted my statements. This is nothing but a right wing, racist smear campaign, so let me be clear - I absolutely did not accept PAC or special interest money while I was an attorney general while serving in Vietnam during the war".

Big Government : The Stunning Decline of Barack Obama

I agree with your last statement and feel like a fool for telling my wife on election night that "while I did not vote for him I do not think that he could do much harm in 4 years" - boy was I wrong. The worse part about all of this is that life experience tells me that it takes much longer to fix things than it does to wreck them. Kinda like wrecking your vehicle in a matter of seconds, fixing it will takes weeks.

Big Government : Offshore Drilling Moratorium Would Cost United States 175,000 Jobs Per Year Through 2035

Right side, I agree with you. Would also like to say that I am a business owner and this administration is going to make me "take the money and run". Employees be damned. We are consultants to the Petroleum/Chemical industry and specialize in the optimization of their facilities/operations. Services include the reduction of emissions, improved reliability and a safer working environment for employees. It's a shame.

Big Government : Latest Biden Gaffe: Suggests Stimulus 'Failed' Because of GOP

And Ford has been greatly rewarded for not taking the bailout. As soon as they announced that they weren't going to take the money I bought 3000 shares at under $3.00/share. Of course I did not have the patients to hold it until it passed $8.00/share a few months later. I sold because I thought that the government would pass legislation requiring new mandates, that Ford could not afford to comply with, in an effort to run them out of business or make than take a future bailout. Obviously GM and Chrysler would be able to afford the mandates because you and I would be paying for them.

Big Government : New York’s Cigarette Tax Hike Already Looking Like a Bust

Point taken, but considering my first sentence I was trying to point out that the government may decide to raise the taxes on brown shoes, if they thought mostly rich businessmen wore them, while not raising the tax on black, green, purple or whatever color. This would punish people that worked hard and applied themselves, we all know that is a bad behavior. Guess I should have been more clear, my bad.
