Ohmpage : Review: Crackdown 2

Well to fight the gangs, you have to secure the 'tactical locations' in order to secure a whole stronghold, and there IS a helicopter you can access if you can get to it, but I hear what you're saying. It would be a great deal at $30-40.

Spark | CBC Radio : Spark 116 – June 6 & 8, 2010

Wow you're really asking Gawker about their commenting system? Gawker is horrible! Their new system attracts sycophants and they habitually 'disemvowel' or even ban any commenter who expresses dissent about their site(s). Kotaku, for example is horribly misogynistic and rumor-mongering but if a commenter expresses this they are quickly silenced. The result is a very skewed comment system as people just seek to get 'promoted' and fear being 'demoted' for expressing any contrary opinion or exposing and journalistic bias. A number of sites have done commenting better but Gawker is one of the worst. It's the kind of system I imagine Fox News employing.

GeneralGames.ca : Xbox Live & The Thin Green Line: Conversation

Yeah the initial facebook/twitter integration is clearly rushed just to get the buzzword feature. i'm curious how fast this change will happen though. E3 this year will likely see a push but I want to see if they try to make Xbox Live more of a social network itself, or to make it an open thing that integrates with your other social networks (see how foursquare capitalizes on twitter). I think not having to pause/exit my game to interact with these networks would be a good start.

GeneralGames.ca : Serious Sam HD: Achievements Leaked

Nothing but speculation and vague hints pointing to Nov. 11 - but no actual date has been confirmed so take that with a grain of salt. XBLA release dates are always subject to fluctuation which is why they're generally not announced until the previous week at best.

GeneralGames.ca : 4 Wars Forgotten by Video Games

I agree with many of your points and I see what you're saying except one sticking point for me is the controversy/acceptance aspect. No doubt WW2 is the most 'popular' and 'universally acceptable' in recent memory but I don't think that makes it better subject matter for games. In fact, I think that makes it worse. Its safer for a publisher, sure but we, as consumers, could probably enjoy a much more interesting and nuanced game experience if it were a more controvercial or morally ambiguous war , being able to see more sides to the story rather than just a simplistic 'good vs evil' situation. Think about movies or books; ones about controvercial subject matter can often be the most interesting and lead to the most education or discussion afterwards. Part of it though is also the timeline for the war. Its recent enough to still be in our collective conscious but far enough away to be fair game (no pun intended) for portrayal in the media with creative license. A more obscure war might have a more difficult time marketing itself, though could potentially make for an interesting game. Playability is subjective too. While largely you're right, I think that other wars would necessitate very different gameplay, rather than the action of current WW2 titles. Resource management, for instance, might weight heavily in a game about the Napoleonic war.
