If this story is true (and a hae ma doots) then it's terribly funny. I bought up the entire stock when my local Lidl offered "traditional" light-bulbs at give-away prices just before the EU "ban" came into effect. That was some time ago. So far, I've used only one as a replacement, which I suppose is a testament to the durability of the old bulbs. I reckon chez Burns is set up for at least a decade of cheap 'n' cheerful lighting.

Patty, I'm in full agreement with you here. Granted, you've cited abuse of journalistic "privilege" in the MSM that suits your pro-GOP leanings. But nothing wrong with that. It works for the other side as well. For too long journos of all persuasions have called the shots and tried to punch above their weight—please forgive the mixed metaphors. We, the public, lapped it up because it seemed to us that they were privy to information/secrets/scandal that mere mortals could not access. Reuters, whom you reference and rightly so, were both giants among men and oracles. We seldom questioned how they knew more about the world than we did. What fools we were. The blogosphere (god bless it) has bust open the inner sanctum. We see how empty it was all along—hey, no ark of the covenant. We see how the prestidigitators (indulge me, okay) loaded the deck. As Roger Daltrey sang: We won't get fooled again. And as Howard Jones added: Things can only get better.
