Thanks for the Kudos on the slideshow. In my opinion, one of the best things you can do is TAKE PICTURES along the restoration way. Then submit them here to us on RVHobby so others can see how things look and work and what you did to solve problems.

RVHobby wouldn't be what it is today without those tent trailer pics ;)

Crystal - My roof was actually in decent condition, only a couple of water spots. I repaired the roof with some JB Weld where there were breaks in the metal and then coated the roof with the same paint I used on the whole trailer. It is an oil based Farm Tractor paint that is water resistant. I purchased it from one of the best paint stores that is still family owned. Nuemann Paint and Supply. Talk to Gene about Jeff's tent trailer paint(928) 472-9054

Basically I sprayed the outside of the trailer after cleaning it up. On the inside, I scraped away all the wallpaper style coating with a scaper and an exacto knife. It was a tedious and arm tiring job. Then I scaped away all the rotted pieces of wood. I replaced the missing wood areas (which wasn't much) with a wood putty material and let that dry 24 hrs. Then I sprayed the inside of the roof with the same paint I purchased from Gene at Nuemann paint and Supply. This sealed the whole inside of the trailer roof and the wood putty etc. Looks quite nice. :)

Prolly your local RV parts store. If you do not know of one, I shop at Al's RV. You can call them at 866-962-5547 and ask about that part. For me, I just re-wired the whole trailer without a harness because I wanted power & lightsin all four corners of the trailer plus I added a 12V water pump. The existing factory harness only had a conneciton for 1 light on the roof (oh, and no deep cycle battery - yeesh - it ran off the power of the towing vehicle connector).

Lorna,
Do you have pictures of the current state of the popup? I think it would be very beneficial to see exactly what is going on with the side.

Mike - Most of the time the overhead bunk has issues when it comes to the age of our rigs! My bunk is in relatively good condition, however my dad went through a complete overhaul of the cab-over bunk. He removed the whole front aluminum siding and replaced the wood and the siding with brand new material. Did the water leakage come from a window, roof or where the roof meets the siding? I actually replaced the flooring in my motorhome, but I did not replace the sub-floor. Most of what I did in the flooring was cosmetic (new carpet, floor tile etc). Send me an email and I will get you in touch with the right people who can give you some free advice in thise area :)
