Elise, I recognize that the author of this document is the ACLU. The argument still applies.

The Obama administration cannot effect these changes alone. It is incumbent upon these lobby groups and the American public to drop the rhetoric and provide the facts to help shape the policies that will change our path and steer this country towards a future that we can all embrace.

A change of attitude is in order.

While I agree with many of the positions held by the ACLU, I am very surprised at the tone of this first document.

Within the first few lines, the document takes a very partisan tone with comments regarding the "Bush years". There is nothing to be gained by making partisan issues out of these suggestions. I would expect anyone leading a transition team to be making sure that the tone of these suggestions were objective and constructive.

Lastly, I am also very surprised about the directive nature of the recommendations. While I am concerned about the civil liberties that we have lost over the past 8 years, I would expect a transitional document to take an objective view and present real facts about what we have lost in the way of civil liberties and what the impact has been on our security.

These transition documents need to present an unbiased and non-partisan roadmap to lay out the next four years.
