Our largest abusers of the system are already the ones getting government assistance. You wonder why your wait is so long? It's because of the idiot who won't go to their doctor's office because they have a co-pay and think they don't have to pay a hospital anything. They run up large bills and we're still stuck paying not only for their insurance, but the care at the hospital. If you come in for a simple UTI or migraine, we have to do blood and urine tests and a CT scan. Hospitals and the medical community charge more simply because the government has their hand in everything. We work hard with those who will pay their bills and they will get discounts. Our society has also become extremely litigious - we have to cover all bases or, God forbid, we get sued. VA hospitals are the worst in the country - ask any Veteran. The senators, congressmen, etc get to go to Bethesda and get world class healthcare and don't have to pay for it - We do.
