KATU - Portland, OR : Local illegal immigrant celebrates Obama\'s announcement | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland Ne

Obama and his cronies have tried multiple times to get the Congress to pass laws to give amnesty to "young" illegals, but they couldn't get the Congress to do it. So once again, Obama does an end-run around the Constitution and just does what he wants. The President isn't meant to do an end-run around the Constitution and the Congress; Executive Orders aren't meant to be a President's way of ruling by fiat. But Obama keeps using them to do just that.

Except this is exactly the opposite of what you're claiming. Obama and his cronies have tried multiple times to get the Congress to pass laws to give amnesty to "young" illegals, but they couldn't get the Congress to do it. So once again, Obama does an end-run around the Constitution and just does what he wants. You can't use this as an attempt to give the two-party system a black eye, just so your 3rd-party candidates have a better chance.

Nice to see the fair-minded, unbiased remarks here, instead of people with an axe to grind going off on anti-religious screeds by painting everyone with the same broad brush. Because, you know, one news story proves that all churches are corrupt.

The Heritage Foundry : Public Comments Overwhelmingly Oppose HHS Anti-Conscience Mandate

Why do you feel it was "decent people" who did it? People who think the state should not only allow them to kill their children, but who want to use the state to silence any who oppose them, aren't exactly "decent people". Whle I agree with Art that many voted for Obama (for example) out of ignorance, it was a willing ignorance. They didn't want to know what the man really stood for, they just wanted to do the "liberal" thing of electing a "black" man. (Not that the Dems were the first to put a Black candidate forward; just that they want to claim to be the only ones who would do so). However, many in the media and the liberal elite (and even the rank-and-file) elected him specifically because he would do the evil that they're in favor of-- which goes far beyond government-sponsored abortion. In fact, he's in trouble with parts of his voting-base precisely because he hasn't done _enough_ evil yet.

Being polite? How is saying "Our way is the only right way, therefore no one is allowed to have any other way of looking at things-- and if you do, we will shut you down by any means possible" being polite? You pretend that Conservatives are just "mean", while Liberals are "polite", but so much of what they do in enforcing their view of "politeness" is accomplished only by trampling on the rights of others. Conservatives do _not_ want to "keep everything the same". There is plenty of harm that Liberals have done in the name of saving people from themselves, that conservatives want to change. Conservatives very much want to make a difference in the world. They just believe that the way to do so is by public discourse, while Liberals want to shut down any opposing views so they're the only ones who can have any control.

I see what you're saying, but I said "liberals" for a reason. It's decidedly a Liberal tactic to try to shut down opposition, by keeping those who disagree with them from being allowed a voice in the discussion. And of course PC is almost entirely a Liberal philosophy, that itself demands everyone follow its dictates without any dissent. To disagree with PC is to automatically be labeled as wrong, no questions asked and no venue granted to prove yourself innocent.

KATU - Portland, OR : Homeowner catches burglar in the act | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland News, Sports, Traffic

"after the homeowner chased him off with two kitchen knives in his boxer shorts" Why did the homeowner have kitchen knives in his boxer shorts? I'm sorry, but that's two stories in a row with bad writing about edged weapons. (See the article about the shoplifter who "flashed the sword and took off, cutting through a nearby apartment complex".) Kinda makes you long for the day when news stories were written by professional writers. On topic: It would sure be nice if we could shut down the revolving door on the jailhouse. But since we have a society founded upon the rule of law, but a culture that continues to deny the importance of values and morality (meaning we actively teach that those things don't matter, and people should just do whatever they want) it'll continue to get worse. There aren't enough cops and not enough prison space to deal with a culture that doesn't respect the rule of law, or the rights of fellow citizens for that matter. /end soapbox.

This is the way it should be handled. It should be up to those who are offended (if anyone) to work locally to try to bring about changes-- not the bureaucracy trying to force a change at the State level. But that's not how Political Correctness works-- liberals try to bypass dialog and force their viewpoints on everyone.

Naked Security : Mobile phone carriers oppose law requiring warrants for location data

It's not as simple as you guys make it sound. Law-enforcement requests tracking information for a missing child's cell-phone, or a missing hiker's. "Nope, sorry, can't help you. You have to go find a judge, get a warrant, and then come back to us. You say that might make it too late to help them? Ooh, too bad. The ACLU doesn't want us doing it, so..." And yes, this would also put the burden on the carrier for determining if the Law-enforcement agency had a proper warrant or not. Of course, the ACLU could go after the Law-enforcement agencies to get this kind of info, but they're not as easy a target as a private company, so they're trying to strong-arm them instead. Because, you know, the ACLU never has an agenda. They're always just looking out for you, right? Frankly, I find the tone of this article to be biased and condescending in its treatment of the carriers.

I guess I hit "Submit" too soon... Thanks for the "heads up" on this app. I agree that Apple should've rejected it/should take it down. It clearly intends to fool the buyer, not just 'thieves'. But it's hard to understand Apple's approval process. They wrongly disallow some apps, while allowing others that shouldn't be IMO.

Your reference to changing hair color was disengenuous. The issue had nothing to do with hair color per se, but with the added level of detail in illustrations that caused them to be deemed as sexually explicit.

The phrase, "If you must..." implies that the activity is undesirable. It's followed by a clause that identifies a way to mitigate that. "If you must hike, hike here" means that hiking isn't good for some reason, but that if you at least hike "here", it won't be so bad. That's kind of a silly title for an article about good places to hike ;)
