We Are Movie Geeks : Why is 'Moon' not getting a nice, big, wide release?

I just saw the film at the Landmark cinema in Waltham, MA in a packed theater and it was excellent! Best science fiction film of the decade! From the trailer, it gives off a 'brain-fuck' vibe, but it isn't at all. Everything is clearly explained and the movie has great flow where every scene stands out on its own. It made ~$231,000 the last week in CA & NY and cost $5 million. I guess they will do a wider release later on or expect to make the money back on DVD. If this film doesn't get nominated for the Academy Awards, I would be very surprised. Can we start a campaign to contact Sony Pictures Classics to get them to make this wider? Sony_Classics@spe.sony.com

It is easy to bring her back and have it seem logical. The bullet went through her cellebellum (brain), but didn't kill her. She was rescued and left in a coma for a few years. She has no memory of her past and it is her who has to discover who she is and that is where she meets up with our hero.

/Film : 3D Avatar and 2D Avatar to Be Rather Different Beasts

I have Amblyopia in my right eye and have major trouble with 3D film. I got a contact lens to help balance out the vision. Depth perception was really new and took time to get use to, for example, how far things were. But prior to this moment, my left eye dominated viewing and I could still see depth, but it is more like watching depth in a 2D film versus both eyes in 3D. Because of the dominance with one eye over the other, 3D film viewing was nearly impossible and gave me a severe headache. But there are some new 3D tVs coming out that make it easier: http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech...

/Film : 24 Season 7 Finale - What Did You Think?

Actually, I'm a Libertarian-Socialist if that makes any sense. No, my point is it worth breaking the law to protect your family? Jack did it when he broke Tony out of custody to save his daughter. President Palmer tried to do it to help his brother. Sure, it would be great to have a President that was truly honorable. But laws aren't always right for the moment. The real question is "Which is more important: Your family or your country?" When called into service in Vietnam, there were many deserters who left for Canada because they did not want to die for their country in a war they did not believe in. Now, as far as legality, she could have easily had ordered Hodges to be killed after a blank check military tribunal for high treason. Instead she gives him witness protection for giving up no real information (names, how they operate, how to contact, participating in an operation, etc.). She could have easily rescinded the option for witness protection. She has the right to pardon and she should have used it. Instead, all she is doing is thinking about her reputation and putting the country ahead of her family. In a situation where the President is in danger, she should have stepped down from office immediately and let the Vice President assume temporary control. Instead she stayed in office, put her daughter as Chief of Staff, and risked making irrational decisions in the highest executive office in the United States.

/Film : IMAX Considers 3 Month Run for James Cameron's Avatar

I emailed IMAX and they told me that they actually have no control over the distribution or how long the films run in IMAX theaters. So I think what you heard about IMAX considering it is wrong. From: Reception <dkprecep@imax.com> Date: Tue, May 19, 2009 at 12:54 PM Subject: RE: Star Trek To: *******@*****.*** Thank you for your e-mail to info@imax.com. IMAX has been thrilled with the public response to our digitally re-mastered blockbuster releases, and we work with our Hollywood studio partners to encourage the widest possible distribution of each film. However, as IMAX is not the distributor of these titles, we have no direct say over which IMAX theatres receive them. We are encouraged by the progress that has been made to date, and we will continue to work with the distributors to bring Hollywood blockbusters in IMAX's format to more and more moviegoers. Regards, IMAX Corporation Star Trek: The IMAX Experience is NOW PLAYING for a limited time! Next up, is Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian: The IMAX Experience on May 22nd. Then the summer heats up with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The IMAX Experience on June 24th, followed by Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince with select scenes in IMAX 3D this July. Please visit www.IMAX.com for more information on these and other films.
