Quincy Journal : Council rejects 2016 tax levy 8-6 - Quincy, IL News - Journal930.com

Apparently you don't understand this situation. Suppose you unexpectedly were given $200. You could spend it, put it in savings (lower the tax levy), or pay down some sort of debt (pension debt or some other). The alderman are not even considering spending it on something new. Their deciding whether to lower our taxes or use it pay down some debt. If the choice is to pay some off debt, then the second choice is which debt. If you're not smart enough to participate in a democracy, then DON'T!!

Quincy Journal : Park Board intent on Auto Museum eviction - Quincy, IL News - Journal930.com

The museum is open about 70 hours per year, that's not much. And then during the winter, they rent out storage space to their members. Why should 30 people be able to rent space in a public building without any oversight and control of the properly elected board? All of the other groups that manage or maintain buildings in the parks have agreements, why shouldn't the park board force this group to live by the same standards? They've tried to reach an agreement, but the auto club insists they own the building, which is legally impossible. You can't own a building in a park, especially with no written agreement. So, the board wants them to leave, and then will work on an official agreement in the spring and the auto club can make any claims about previous events.

Quincy Journal : Quincy Park District levy unchanged - Quincy, IL News - Journal930.com

The Park District has written agreements with many other organizations, so why do you think they don't have one with the car club? The Park District offered to negotiate an agreement with the club, but the club wouldn't agree to the terms. The car club didn't think the Park District would follow thru with the eviction, and now club has boxed themselves in a corner. Kudos to the Park District for not giving in to a small group who's main objective it to have a place to keep their cars.

Quincy Journal : Quinsippi Island bridge committee gathers ideas - Quincy, IL News - Journal930.com

If you stop or slow down the flow of water, the sediment will "fall out" and become silt. A land bridge would cause the upper bay to be entirely "backwater" with no current, and the upper bay would become even worse than it is now. The water needs to flow through the bay in order to have any chance of keeping the bay open. And, Cedar Creek empties into the upper bay, above the bridge, so where would all of that water go?

I'm sure QPD will say that the funding for this comes from a special source (ie grant), but if manpower is such an issue, why have officers do this? According to the chief, officers are working overtime and long hours, why put effort into this when their energy and time could be doing something more important?

Quincy Journal : Committee may study Quinsippi Island Bridge options - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

The main reason for the "jungle" on the west side is that the river current is close to the shore. It's not safe for people to wade into the water on the west side of the island, so to discourage people from going over there they have left nature (jungle) reclaim that space.

TFM has driven morale into the dirt. Its so much more than budget, most experienced government employees can adapt to budget cuts, but the lack of leadership and trust in TFM is becoming a real problem. The temper tantrums and gloating are wearing people out. TFM has burned enough bridges, that now its almost pathetic because TFM has so few people he can trust to help solve problems. Thank God we haven't had a major flood with TFM in office because he his poor leadership skills would be exposed to many more people.

I hope its true that Cobb is resigning, but Erwin is correct. Bailey should not have been discussing this until the Board met and accepted a formal written resignation. Starting next month we will have a rather inexperienced school board, I hope this isn't the beginning of board members mishandling situations. Troup is most qualified to be the new board president.

Unions did many good things decades ago, but their membership and purpose are shrinking. But let's assume they are sill viable and worthwhile...wouldn't new workers want to join and support their cause? So, why are current union members afraid of giving new people the option? Answer: Deep down they know younger workers won't see the need to pay dues, and then the union will lose revenue and influence. America is all about freedom, so give hard working people the freedom to choose how to spend their money. If someone doesn't want to support a union with their cash, then don't force them!

Hopefully Nall realizes that his opinion doesn't matter anymore. The results were overwhelming despite his efforts and lies. And for the new school board members, hopefully they scrutinize Cobb's activities better. He spends more time traveling then running the district. He passes everything off to Murphy, who is overwhelmed and under qualified. I'm glad the school referendum passed, but I have no confidence that Cobb and Murphy can lead the district through the changes.

I agree with you, but not sure if you quite understand how things work. Assuming he is unable to post bond, he will remain in the county jail until his trial. So, for the next several months this guy will be in a cell next to local people facing far less serious charges. He will be in our local cramped jail, but if convicted he will be shipped to a state facility. The local jail is not a safe place to keep thugs like this. Its unsafe for the officers and possibly even other inmates. The new is not needed to make inmates comfortable, its needed because its not safe for officers and other inmates to be so close to these hardcore idiots. Ask yourself this, if you're son or sister were in jail for smoking pot, would you want them in a cell next to this guy?

Bud is incapable of understanding most of the issues, so he feels it is best to abstain or vote no. I don't think there is much rational to his actions other than he gets a pat on the back from the folks that support him. I don't think he has brought forth a solution or innovative idea in years, he just fills the chair. Frankly its sad to watch him during the meetings, but his supporters don't see that. They just see his "rebel" votes in the media.

I found the answers on their web site. Total rounds at Westview so far in 2014 is 35,657. Tax Levy $2,241,750 - Levy depends on the EAV though, so that number will change accordingly.

UKWP is pretty much right, and I think they do offer club rentals at a low price. I'm sure if Ford sold their cars for $10,000, their sales would go up, but they probably won't have the enough supplies or employees to make cars the second year. Westview's prices are fair, the expenses and revenue are balanced, so why complain?
