Big Government : In the Bowels of Baltimore’s ACORN

Why do I have a feeling that the Department of "Justice" will not prosecute these two pieces of filth? Why do I have a feeling that the "mainstream" media will ignore this completely until it is pushed in their faces? words fail me

1. Secure borders against drug dealers and terrorists 2. Increase defense spending on military-F22 and F35 (parts for F22 are made in 44 states) 3. Term limits for legislators, no re-elections for 6 years 4. No money for campaigns from lobbyists, no jobs after service for 5 years 5. Constitutional studies mandatory in middle school 6. Construction of "pebble bed" nuclear reactors for electrical power

I would agree with everything in your post except number 2 and not for the reason you expect. I asked a Constitutional lawyer about this and he told me that, if we pass a law making English the national language, it could be defeated in court. As it is now, the opponents of English have no way to fight it in court.

I think the idea is to go back to a time when being a Senator or Congressman was a service to one's country and not a career. Once it bacame a career, the politician's only real aim is to continue to get re-elected. Like you, I can see the problems of term limits. The only other possible solution would be to completely cut off lobbying money, campaign contributions, and cushy jobs received as a result of favorable legislation. That being said, if we wait for a perfect plan, we will wait forever and the situation will continue to worsen.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Obama: U.S. Not at War With Islam

I remember a line from a movie that sorta says it. "You took an oath, if you recall, when you first came to work for me. And I don't mean to the National Security Advisor of the United States, I mean to his boss... and I don't mean the President. You gave your word to his boss: you gave your word to the people of the United States. Your word is who you are."

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : The Secretary of Defense Wants To Overhaul Weapons Spending, Congress Freaks

Good post. I'm sitting here thinking, if Gate's rationale for cutting the F22 is that it is not needed because we will be fighting terrorists, not armies, why would the same rationale not hold for missile defense? I am far more worried about Iran with an intercontinental EMP than I am about Putin launching WW3.

Isn't the F35 a multirole fighter? I would assume it's meant to replace the F16 NATO forces. I know that there are over 500 F18 fighters in service right now and I am wondering what will replace them? By the way, here is a good article on the F22. http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200903/air-force

There is an excellent article in Atlantic Monthly that covers this subject pretty well. http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200903/air-force
