FYI, I typed this while at work....I may revise this comment when I get home if it doesn't make sense for some reason >.> And sorry for it being nested....couldn't figure out how it would actually show -_-

Wandering the Void : Fixing New Eden: Sovereignty and Null-Sec

If the owning alliance isn't there, then the bleed would happen whether the other group came in or if no one entered the system for a year. But to anser your question directly, if fleeted, it only counts towards one entity. If not fleeted, then it's all being split up to where even the owners won't want their friends around for too long. If suddenly you had the option to "contest" it would be pretty tempting if they didn't expect it. And as I said, your not going to change the human nature of coallition's and the many vs few equation. However, with the fact that the many would have to stick around afterward to keep...it still starts making it impractical for them to go about and constantly maintain such a thing. Thus making space that smaller entities could move into and fight amongst themselves over it. But the fact of the matter is, friends are always going to be the trump card. I don't think you'll ever get rid of that. This just helps make it a bit more impractical for large bloc's to hold swaths of space unending. Thanks for the reply!

Otherwise, if not in the same fleet, all the groups would be contributing to different alliances and could actually be detrimental to the take over of the system by the intended entity. The sway that your mentioning would only be temporary in most cases. As this would only be short termed activity unless your coallition buddies moved into the system as well. At which time, they would be counting towards their own and removing from the owners. AND not neccessarily helping the people trying to take over the system (would again, have to remain in fleet the entire time). Assuming they don't activly try to contest, this won't be an issue with systems that have an IHUB installed as long as the owning corp/alliance maintains some amount of presence there.

Averageing would be needed for the sake of activity and what not. Maybe even a "cap" on the max that it can go up or down at any one time? As for the fights, I'll throw this out there first. It's been awhile since I been involved in any sort of engagment like this. But the way I was used to doing it, you would still form fleets up, and these fleets would count to whomever was Boss of the fleet (under my system suggestion above). Therefore a united front would be able to apply this to great effect.

The "It's not about blaming the players," comment...is directed at the fact that my initial statement wasn't meant for blame. So, the full comment is actually; "It's not about blaming the players, it's about the asshat hypocrites." Does that make more sense?

And that's what I'm trying to get to you....I say that the un-subs in general are partially to blame...reguardless of reason. So yes, I am attributing the person who did the same exact thing for different reasons. As I am attributing the hypocrite dick head. This was about the people that quit, acting surprised that CCP had to downsize. And raging about it. Your cross walk example isn't the same situation either. You protest a cross walk and they don't do it due to budget...had nothing to do with your protest, and you are still going to be required by law to pay your taxes. CCP had "X" amount of dollars when they had Y subscribers. But they lost that money when Y became Y-4500. Now they have X-(Y-4500) dollars less. And for the most part I think the 4500 is accepted as just people who quit in protest. I don't have fact's on that but vOv Now, if you were part of (Y-4500) subscribers, knowing what your denial of X was going to do....and then raged about what the collateral of not having as much money (X) to keep staff around. Then you are naive/moron/hypocrite. Those were the people I was directing at. I don't really care if you unsubbed because you lost your job or if you unsubbed because you were mad at CCP. To each their own. I do say that the people that unsubbed, reguardless of reason, are partially to blame. Even if you unsubbed due to job loss, your an unintentional part of the drama. It was never about blame on players like your trying to make it. It was only the reaction of these asshabidasheries. Thus back to something I said a few times....I think we're arguing two different points. Your not going to budge me on players being partially at fault. It's my opinion, i don't try to say it's the right one and I do acknowledge there are other opinions.
